Any chance of 360 beating PS3 in Japan when ToV is released?
I don't think 360 can beat PS3 in Japan, but if the momentum continues, it could become the PS3/360 situation in EU, only on a smaller scale.

Wait, you do realize the 360 is in second place...... and by a lot......
360 sales will be stable for the rest of the year. There are a lot of big JRPGs being released.
PS3 may have a hard time sustaining its sales, after a month of good releases what else is coming for the PS3 this year? Is TLR timed exclusive for the 360? If not a big increase may happen. The only other title I can think of that may push sales is X-Edge, but it seems really niche for a JRPG.
Wii should remain stable due to the sales of Wii Fit and MKWii. Some other titles are hitting, specially from Nintendo.
DS will lose momentum until DQ6, Chronno Trigger and DQIX get released. Oh I almost forgot Pokemon Platinum, that will drive HW sales up A LOT.
PSP should remain stable also, as it seems that there's a good game released every week and new models/bundles become available like every month.

Bets with Conegamer:
Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.

For the week? Most definitely
I don't think the momentum will continue, it will just be another case like Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, Eternal Sonata etc.
"Tales Of" also isn't a huge series, but it has its dedicated following. I believe the most any one game has done in Japan is around 800k, (the two Tales of Destiny for PS1) but the average is much lower then that.
IU will probably see good sales as well, but it won't be a massive hit either. Since the Last Remnant is confirmed for PS3, I think that will hurt its sales in Japan.

Because it releases next week and some people probably want to buy it now, rather then during the rush when the game releases? As for his PS3 comment, he says "given the market in Japan", which therefore causes his prior statement to make sense. |
Did you read Kowenicki's post, 360 sales have been on the rise for the past two months. I stand by my original statement. What does ToV have to do with anything when the game isn't even out yet. If ToV was out and the sales were increasing because of it, I'd agree with Montana's assessment but that isn't the case.

Yeah, 360's in 2nd place now, but what i meant was that i think the xbox 360 can beat the famicom-playstation 3 and maintain 2nd place until the end of this generation or at least until microsoft release the next xbox
a question : no ps3 shortage in japan?
i know it's selling as usual but shouldn't be there shortage issues?
r we sure about NA having shortage issues? is this official ? or just conclusions?

Oh well, these things happen..... whatever happens now till the end of this generation the 360 is gauranteed to be a success regardless of wether the famicom-playstation 3 catches up or not........

define big? ToV, IU and TLR will get some decent sales, but I wouldn't qualify them anywhere near games that will turn the tides. People seem to mistake the popularity of RPG's in Japan. The Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest series are huge, but the rest of them on average end up with decent/good sales
As for the PS3, for the rest of 2008 they have the Eternal Sonata port, Cross Edge, Afrika and possibly Naruto:UNS. Of course there could be a few other things, but not that I can remember at this time.
