Forums - Nintendo - Are Hardcore Gamers Buying the Nintendo Wii?

Panzer Pev is a troll. Future mario and Zelda are the only Carrots? What about upcoming wario land, Animal Crossing, and Pikmin? What about great 3rd party games like No More Heroes, RE4 remake, Metal Slug remake, Little King's Story, ToS, Fatal Frame ect. What about fantastic 1st party games out now like Super Paper Mario, Zelda Twilight Princess, Super Mario Galaxy, Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn, Mario Kart Wii, Super Smash Bros Brawl, and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption? Thats not enough of a carrot?

As to what I am excited about, I am excited that next spring Super Paper Mario will drop to about $15, I want Animal Crossing Wii, and I plan to get Wario Land once it drops in price as well. I will get ToS full price and I will get Little King's Sotry as well once the price used drops.

When are people going to realize hardcore gamers don't care about graphics

well, I DO care about graphics. A lot. And while I may not be a "hardcore" gamer, I certainly am not a casual gamer. In fact, the graphics are the main reason I can;t stand Wii games. When the a friend of mine who only owns a Wii came over and I show her Warhawk and she said "Wow. those graphics are amazing" it just bowled me over.

The article is full of crap, but I;m not buying the statement that 79% of Wii owners are males 18 and older. I don't know one guy 18 or older who owns a Wii. And I know like 35-40 guys who have 360s or PS3s.

Not trying to be a fanboy. Of course, it's hard when you own the best console eve... dang it

I preferred the Genesis to the SNES but it certainly hasn't had any effect on what consoles I've owned (and I've owned nearly all of them at one point or another, including the 32X).

I fear we're straying off topic, but I'll make my case as I see it, as to why I can't reasonably understand that statement, with my narrowmindedness.

Chrono Trigger

Super Punch Out

Link to the Past

Secret of Mana

Final Fantasy IV and VI

Super Mario World

Super Mario RPG

Super Metroid

Super Castlevania IV

Earthbound

Secret of Evermore

Donkey Kong Country

F-Zero

Double Dragon

Yoshi's Island

Star Fox

Star Ocean

Mario Paint

Battletoads

Breath of Fire I and II

Castlevania: Dracula X

Megaman X, X-2, X-3

Doom

Lufia 2

Mortal Kombat 1, 2, and 3

Harvest Moon

Super Ghouls and Ghost

Super Mario Kart

Tecmo Super Bowl

Now, if this isn't a list of games that makes you proud to own a console, then I've led a misleading life.

My genesis had a few great games, like Mortal Kombat, Battletoads, and Earthworm Jim, but mainly it was a Sonic player.

IMO, if one believes that the Genesis had the better library, it is very likely that one would be basing their opinions off the limited games they had available to them as a kid, rather than the actual overall library. You only need to look at the modern emulation game to see where the genesis stands compared to the SNES, when it comes to games that have percieved lasting quality.

As to sales, the best I can figure:

From Wikipedia:

49.10 million Super NES units were sold worldwide, with 23.35 million of those units sold in the U.S.[1] Although it could not quite repeat the success of the NES, which sold 61.91 million units worldwide,[1] the Super NES was the best-selling console of its era. The Mega Drive/Genesis came in second with 29 million sold worldwide,[76][77][78] and the TurboGrafx-16 was third with 10 million sold worldwide.[79]

All that said you are perfectly entitled to your opinion, as I am entitled to claim that I don't understand that opinion. I still admit that it is completely valid and there are a lot of opinion that I can't comprehend or accept, in this world, so this is nothing new. I just want to make sure my 2 cents are put in on this subject, because to me, the SNES had the best game library of all time.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

*SNIP*

I'm not getting into this: I'm not going to derail the thread reliving the fanboy brawls of ages gone by to try to prove to you something that is a matter of personal taste (and, yes, I played the vast majority of the libraries for all three consoles--remember the PCE/TG16?--plus all the imports that didn't come over here when they were new so I'm speaking from ungainly amounts of experience on the subject).

I preferred the Genesis library (it's my favorite console of all time, and I'm not alone on these boards based on some other threads about favorite consoles, etc.), overall, as you preferred SNES (and I don't understand that but, then, it doesn't bother me and I don't care that much one way or the other) and it's pretty much as simple as that.

Edit: if you must continue this, you can PM me but I'd rather not derail the thread over it.
