It's all "pretty" (huh?) and "logical" because it also has the virtue of being true and accurate--just because you want to believe it's all down to incompetence doesn't make it so. Basically, your argument (such as it is) belies a profound ignorance of so many facets of product development, supply chains, financial concerns, market pressures, promotional campaigns, etc., etc. that it's hard to take you seriously.


Where did I said it's all due to incompetence? And how exactly did you conclude that I ignore such things? Don't you think you're jumping to conclusions a bit too much?

Get this - there are many games which are released close together in all territories, blockbuster games with such big delays are the exception rather than the rule. This proves that delays aren't necessary and can be avoided with good planning, when companies want to do it that way.

If we want to go that way, we'd also have to eliminate a pretty significant part of Europe's population.

In any case, I don't think we should go that way - too much trouble and no benefit. The more important point is that traditionally, the American video games market was much more important than Europe's. This is clearly changing.

i don't think its changing, i think it has changed already andi reckon Europe has been the biggest market for the previous year or so.

I don't think the trend is changing, atleast not in the foreseeable future and without economic growth in South-America, since the former eastern-block countries are experiencing growth in economics with their EU membership (although, the birthrate in EU is low and population is aging).

As for the Brawl delay, the most propable reason for it was to time it regionally so, that there were as little competition as possible to lure in PS360 owners or people who were planning to get one. Atleast Brawl was one of the best titles for that. And as for what it comes to other high profile releases, the NA and Eu releases are close to each other, MKWii for example got its release in NA only 2 weeks after PAL.

Is it just me or is this NOT news? Europe's population (rest of Others not as important) is much higher than US/Canada (the rest of NA is not that important) as in like 2 times at least plus the Euro doing so well and the Dollar not doing so well just adds to it.



Currently dreaming of: DKC4 or Sonic the Hedgehog 4 (classic 2D platformers) for WiiWare, Smash Bros. for DSi, New Super Mario World for DSi, a Wii remake or true sequel of Final Fantasy Tactics.

One down, hopefully more awesomeness to come.
