Forums - Gaming - IGN Reviews soulCalibur4:PS3 version feels quicker and more polished

Another day, and both games shows minimal differences, I wonder if the future installs on the 360 could help the 360 in the same way the pushed the PS3...

Despite the aforementioned concerns, Soulcalibur IV is a lot of fun and I highly recommend it, especially -- as I said before -- to fans of the series. The game runs well, looks beautiful, sports great music and obviously has enjoyable combat. The PS3 and 360 versions are just about identical (barring the differing guest characters), though I felt that the optional install on the PS3 made things feel even quicker and more polished. In the end, both are worthy members of a long- standing series and you won't be disappointed with the purchase.

Now get that soul burning."

I find your thread title highly misleading. IGN have said the games are the same, and that the game feels faster and more polished when installed.

You will be able to install games on the 360 very soon too. Your thread titles makes it sound like the gameplay is faster and more graphically polished...

which it isn't!

Namco gets it right.

optional installs are the way to go

So if the PS3 version feels better and whatnot... why give them the same score. I hate that they give some of the PS360 games the same score and then tell which version is better in some areas. It's just hypocritical to what they are trying to do.

Anyways not a bad score. 8.7 was around where I expected the game to get. Sounds like a fluid fighter.

if the 360 version was quicker and more polished, they would have bumped the ps3 score down.

ps3 version has way better controlls for this type of game, so its obvious i will be buying ps3 rendition.

darth vader > yoda

Yes, and if the PS3 version was "quicker and more polished", they would have bumped the 360 score down too.

That, however is not what is\has happened - the LOADING times are "quicker and give a more polished feel"...

That is completely different to saying what Spartan did in yet another one of his misleading thread titles.

I wish a mod would edit it, because its an outright lie and people are being mislead (You for example)

Whats worse is that when the fall update is released the 360 version will be superior as it will also be able to be installed and have things not in the PS3 version.

thats a good score for both

best fighter will be the next tekken ;)

but ill deffo get this the day it comes out... in 2 days.

Tekken hasnt been good for years. Tekken Tag Tournament was my first ever PS2 game, and i hated it. Yeah it had spiffing graphics, but it had a lack of real fighting moves (grabs, throws) that was over-compensated for by its ridiculous 37 button combos

BLASPHEMY!

No seriously the good thing about tekken is its deep fighting system and over the top story.. atleast in my opinion. Tekken 5 is the best tekken i've played so far. If you go back from tekken 5 and play any other tekken the controls feel sloppy and slow.. really. Innovations !.. tekken 6 will be epic.. if not legendary !

Well said, also Tekken has a really long learning curve and is 1 of the ( if not the most) technical fighters available, plus the juggle system is sweet as hell ;)

C'mon stubbs, you know damn well you're blowing the "37 button" stuff out of proportion. I've played all the tekken games (except Nina's single player game) on a high competitive level and I've never seen a 37 hit combo used on a practical basis. The only thing that even comes close are the infinite juggles you can do on certain stages in Tekken 4, but I'm pretty sure you're referring to the premade combo strings (which are VERY easy to do) which can range upto 15-16 button combinations. Using Combo strings are not the correct way to play that game and all of them will always result in low parrys (if playing a decent player), which then leads to juggle starters.

With that being said, STOP SHITTING ON TEKKEN. It's sure as hell more user friendly than VF :D.
