Forums - Nintendo - Ubisoft is clear. It was just one troll in their company tricking us.

Well, I'm just a bit more demanding than you then LordTheNightKnight. I expect a developer to give their best effort to earn my money, not just release anything within a specific category.

It's not just that game. It's that the existance of the development of the game shows that the company does not think the way that jerk claimed. It's just one game for now, but we just heard about it just now, when they've been developing it for months (in an interview on Kotaku).

Well, their announced games are pretty much in line with the opinion of that guy. So far they're all over the HD platforms and all their Wii games are low budget and even less effort. I really don't see how Red Steel 2 changes so much for you, it was a given that would eventually show up. But throwing a dog a bone isn't the same as actually supporting a platform with core games.

All companies are like this. They are a business trying to make money and they are going to exploit what they feel will make them the most money. It's the same reason why these same companies continue to release shooter after shooter with no work behind them for PS360 and PC.

Companies like to take safe routes. It takes a really special company to take a risk as the more risk you take the bigger the reward can be. Retro Studios took a risk with Metroid series and it payed off. Bioware and Lucasarts took a risk with Star Wars: KOTOR and it payed off. Nintendo took a risk with DS and Wii and it payed off. Sony took a risk with blu-ray in the PS3 and it payed off.

This doesn't mean all risks pay off, but the ones that take the risk and succeed are the ones who will gain the most. This is why so many people rant on Ubisoft and Activision and EA because they get comfortable. Comfortability is good for short term gains but in the long run it'll never pay off. Midway is a testament to that.

BTW, I'm not claiming I think Ubisoft is all fine and dandy right now.

Do you guys that are always complaining about Ubisoft's Wii support realize that Ubisoft is the third party with the most million sellers on the Wii ?

So there's a significant portion of the Wii users that actually like what they are doing..

PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !

The amount of back-tracking and eating of words in this thread is amazing.

I always knew that people would change their tune as soon as the wind changed. Ubishit this, Ubishit that, but then it's a turn-around when Red Steel 2 gets announced ...

Crazy.

Actually, that was another reason I decided a while ago to wait and see with them. And as they stated, with one of those million sellers being a core game, that it still selling, it's obivous they know that the audience of core Wii gamers exist.

I don't think they are the best ever developer now, just that I'm sure they aren't insulting gamers by pretending a whole demographic of them don't exist. That was just one troll claiming that, and Ubisoft knows that there is core support on the Wii.

It remains to be seen how well the game will play, but the fact is this isn't a shovelware game, nor are the many core games they are publishing here and elsewhere.

Ubisoft was my one of my favorite 3rd party devs last gen with Prince of Persia, Splinter Cell and Beyond Good & Evil.

For Wii they have: Shaun White, No More Heroes (yes publishing counts), RRR, HAWX, I'm Alive, Tenchu 4, Red Steel 1+2.

Really I don't see a reason to complain.

And I will definitely buy BG&E2, can't wait for that game (although they screwed up the artwork imo)

That's part of the reason I'm not complaining now.

Ubisoft also completely failed to take control of the situation and release a statement that it was only a forum moderator shooting his mouth off.

I never really doubted that Ubisoft had core games in the works for the Wii, but the laughable and pathetic PR at Ubidays, on account of that moderator, and lack of a response to both, provided quite a bit of amusement.
