All companies are like this. They are a business trying to make money and they are going to exploit what they feel will make them the most money. It's the same reason why these same companies continue to release shooter after shooter with no work behind them for PS360 and PC.

Companies like to take safe routes. It takes a really special company to take a risk as the more risk you take the bigger the reward can be. Retro Studios took a risk with Metroid series and it payed off. Bioware and Lucasarts took a risk with Star Wars: KOTOR and it payed off. Nintendo took a risk with DS and Wii and it payed off. Sony took a risk with blu-ray in the PS3 and it payed off.

This doesn't mean all risks pay off, but the ones that take the risk and succeed are the ones who will gain the most. This is why so many people rant on Ubisoft and Activision and EA because they get comfortable. Comfortability is good for short term gains but in the long run it'll never pay off. Midway is a testament to that.
