It was planned.

definitely yes!!
i knew this was Nintendo's plan, after E3, allowing 3rd parties to sell.....

Probably not, I think we'll see continued strong sales for 1st party games through the holiday season and Guitar Hero 4 will sell well (GH3 did really well on the Wii) but most third party games will continue to suffer poor sales simply because they don't appeal to the user base, removing new 1st party games from the line up won't change this.
The plan could backfire though.
Since there will not be as much 1st party competition this time around, 3rd party offerings could slack off and just throw stuff out there just for the heck of it. (I believe the term is usually called shovelware)
Due to the above, Nintendo could miss out on alot of potential sales (HW and SW)
For some unexplained reason, 1st party sales still receive higher sales than 3rd party sales this year, even without the help of that Animal Crossing game.
Generation 8 Predictions so far.....(as of 9/2013)
Console that will sell most: Nintendo Wii U
Who will sell more consoles between Microsoft/SONY: SONY
