I personally don't think PS3 can catch up to Xbox360 in software sales even if PS3 console sold more.

PS3 will only catch up if it makes some big changes in Japan and starts selling good software there. Otherwise it'll always end up selling less in America and more in Pal regions but never enough to make up 71 million in software over the next 3 or 4 years.

Edit:  Also worth noting since you got those numbers from this site, a large portion of the 360's sales in Europe during 2005-2006 aren't even included in that since they are very incomplete.

Of course, once it reaches 150 million hardware it will easily have outsold the 360 in software.

Now seriously, it's pretty hard. The PS3 would have to gain a huge advantage in userbase to overcome the difference, and that won't happen.

Only 136 millions? I thought Xbox 360 had atleast 200 millions by now.

... thats lame . The "dieing" PSP had probably shipped that amount by now lol ... thats it for being a software monster :P

Once there is more software on the PS3 it can catch up.

Sony could catch up but depends on PS3 selling a lot more consoles than the X360. PS3 ends up 20 million consoles in front of the X360 in install base, PS3 software sales could be in front of the X360.

So by end of 2011, PS3 should be 20 million in front of X360 and PS3 software sales should be equal or higher than the X360.

Already 65M and only 135M ...

I expected worst number for the PS3 and better for the Xbox360


PS3 will catch up but it will take more time than for the hardware sales.

PS3 software are very good by the way regarding of the install base.

I assume PS3 hardware tops Xbox360 hardware before Xmas09.

So before Xmas10, PS3 software will top Xbox360 software.
