Last Year at this time around 3.1 million Wiis had been sold in Japan, and only 2.5 million Wiis had been sold in others....

My how things have changed.... Last year the week ending July 21 in Others saw 80,000 wiis sold. This year the Wii is selling about double that.

The Wii has slowed in Japan however where the Wii was hovering around 70-90k. The Wii seems to have settled in a 40-50k rut since Golden Week.

I was a little shocked by this to say the least, Others now has about a 3.5 million lead on Japan right now and it is growing by over 100k a week. Last year the Videogames market really slowed down in Japan starting in Sept, but that is when the Western markets begin to pick up. The Wii should sell 180k - 200k weekly from Sept - October and then double for late Nov and Dec.

Japan won't pick up until mid dec.... By Dec 31st 08 Other could have 2.5 times the userbase than Japan does...

I though this was interest, I did not realize the Wii caught on a little slower in Others than other parts of the World.

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

Why is it a shock that Europe has a lead?? Europe has a population of 700 million.. Japan 130million.. Yes we were slow starters but we waited for the PS3..
