Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo Has NOT Delieved us Zelda... Yet.

Big Jon, you are wrong bud. Zelda games take along time to make and only come out once or twice a generation.

Having Zelda as a launch title was the best thing Nintendo have ever done (not really but it was pretty awesome) You should go back in time and try and endure the wait Zelda fans had from Zelda LttP until Zelda OoT.

All these newby Nintendo fanboys need to know what it felt like during n64/gc days, the delays and game droughts were the worst. This gen is gravy compared to them. Some people these days just need to harden the fuck up.

As I pointed out, even if the style was the Twilight Princess one, the issues with the game which are actual gameplay issues would still be present. Do you think that the sailing would somehow mystically be less tedious, or the repetition less irritating, or the repeat dungeon less annoying, just because Link was no longer cel-shaded with cat eyes?

My point was not saying Nintendo should give us a new Zelda right NOW. It was that people who should stop saying they already had. TP at launch was not the best thing Nintendo has ever done, but obviously it worked. By delaying a game until after the Wii was launch they made it appear that they made a new Zelda for the Wii at launch. Amazing.

I have beaten TP (the GC) version and I wouls consider buy the Wii version if they ever give it a players choice (there is no way I am paying 50 for the same game twice...)

What I want is to SEE the new Zelda. That is it, however if it is not a holiday 09 titles I will begin to be frustrated. I never dreamed that we would see a new Zelda in 08. Also I was a Zelda fan in the 90's and I did endure the Wait... but you would have to admit that the SNES did a good job of keeping you occupied while you waited. : )

@Skyrender

All those points you made are probably why I did not finish the game. I did not like the STYLE of WW that is pretty much it.

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

And my point remains that that style had very little to do with the visuals. The primary issue was that the game was set at sea, which lent itself to that sort of tediousness. It could've been done any style and it'd still be just as irritating. Graphics do not, in fact, change how a game plays. At worst, they make you THINK they make the game is somehow a different experience, which a quick sanity check should tell you is nonsense. On the thinnest of surface levels, perhaps, the experience differs if your character is cel-shaded or realistic, but once you actually get into the game, that really doesn't matter any more.

I stopped reading after as soon as you said we wanted voice. Seriously what kinda monster are you haha.

i dont know what the argument is about, cause WW looks amazing, and i was really happy that Nintendo had tried something new and cool.that said, i like the cel-shaded textures in general, they somehow look way more artistic, as if someone has brought a paint brush to the screen. as for the game, yes, TP is much better than any other 3-d Zelda title.WW is brought down by the very factors Sky Render has mentioned

"The accumulated filth of all their sex and murders will foam up about their waist and all the whores and politicians will look up and shout "Save us!"...

....and I'll look down and whisper  "no."

I agree with bigjon's article TP is just a port no one can deny it no matter how hard I try you you all too to convince yourselves it's a wii game but the fact TP is not and for me the real new Zelda to date is The Wind Waker not TP and now it's time for Nintendo to blow us out of our mind with a real New Zelda for a its real new console the Wii with WiiMotion Plus and much more .

They released Mario kart, Super Mario Galaxy, SSBB, Metroid, lots of Mario games. They need a Zelda in the chamber to make a big impact when things go quiet. I agree Zelda should be made super "hardcore" like TP and OoT but I doubt it is gonna be like that...

They should really make a realistic Zelda title just to make hardcore people happy and I bet regular gamers will like it also. There are just not that many realistic looking games on the Wii x.x

Also as an aside I hate Nintendo's new not showing anything until the game is basically done. I do know what they protect but it just sets gamers up for more disapointment. If we knew what we were getting we could just focus on those games and dream about that one game we wish Nintendo would make again (3d Donkey Kong please) also games like Zelda and Smash would sell better if they have more time for hype to build. Stupid decesision.

I don't understand this point of view.  A couple of months is plenty of time for hype.  Too much longer than that and you set yourself up for overhype, and a let down once the game actually launches.  What really disapoints gamers are delays, and a failure to live up to expectations.  Shortening the window between announcement and launch helps to alleivate that problem.

Even if we knew what was coming, that wouldn't stop anyone from dreaming about future games.  Everyone knows that FFXIII and FF Versus is coming, but that doesn't stop everyone from talking about wanting KH3 and a FFVII remake even though those games are currently unannounced (as far as I know) and are a long way off in the future.
