Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo Has NOT Delieved us Zelda... Yet.

I am getting a little annoyed that everytime people defend Nintendo and say they have already provided Mario, Zelda, MK, Smash etc, and they use this point to say that they can't just spam us with sequels (which I agree with) and we are getting greedy because they have already done their job.

But (Unlike I keep hearing around here) Nintendo has not given us a 7th gen Zelda. What we have is TP (My 2nd or 3rd fav Zelda).

Well as you all know TP was a gamecube game, that if it had not been delayed 47 times would have come out probably in Fall 05.  I believe it was created due to the backfire that was WW (a good game, but people had already made their minds up in what they wanted)

So the way I look at it is this - You would not say Capcom has brought a new RE (UC is different... you know that) would you? RE4: Wii, and Zelda TP: Wii are the same. A 6th gen port with Wii controls. (I also think that it is funny as they have both brought a shooter spinnoff to the Wii also)

So here is what I, and most Nintendo fans mean when they complain that we have Seen nothing on Zelda. We want something new, yes we want a decent touch up in graphics. Better WiiControls (all I can say is I hope the reason we have seen nothing yet is because they trying to make it compatitble with WiiMotion Plus), some new things for the series like voice, bigger, but more populated would, the classic dungeons we all enjoy with a couple new wrinkles throw in that would only be possible on the Wii.

Also as an aside I hate Nintendo's new not showing anything until the game is basically done. I do know what they protect but it just sets gamers up for more disapointment. If we knew what we were getting we could just focus on those games and dream about that one game we wish Nintendo would make again (3d Donkey Kong please) also games like Zelda and Smash would sell better if they have more time for hype to build. Stupid decesision.

I delieved that too!!

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

yeah those games do need more hype, and i do want a 7th gen zelda

tag:"reviews only matter for the real hardcore gamer"

But they are two Great 6th Gen ports with Great Wii controls.

I would agree that TP doesn't count as a Wii game except that the Wii version outsold the GC version by 3.2 million or almost 4:1. So most people only played the Wii version. And it counts for 4.7 million people who count it as a Wii game.

I know what you mean though. I want a new Zelda game, too.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

Whether you count zelda or not the fact is that Nintendo has already released the majority of their major IP stable for the Wii at least once.

If your point is just that you still want a new Zelda game then I certainly agree =) But if you're saying this invalidates the argument that they've done a good job for the hardcore then I disagree.

I think you're just clamoring for a new Zelda to be honest, but just covering my bases in case I'm off.

A lot of Wii games were actually Gamecube games that got the upwards transfer. Twilight Princess, Donkey Kong Barrel Blast, Super Paper Mario, and I'm pretty sure Battalion Wars 2 and Fire Emblem also. That doesn't disclude them as being Wii games. In fact I believe a lot of Wii games were in the beginning started development on GC dev kits(someone can correct me if I'm wrong), so does that mean they don't count?

after the 47 delays of TP i am happy that nintendo isn't hyping games until they are almost done. zelda will come, that's a certainty but i'd rather not have disappointment after disappointment due to delays like TP did and just about every ps3 game.

I had kinda gotten used to the delays.... I was one of the few who did not flip when smash was delayed...

I like knowing about a game. Right now I feel kinda helpless. They COULD have nothing and there is no way we could know... they could just hide behind we have nothing that is ready to show.

And why exactly are you entitled to get everything you want right away, again? On top of already having a healthy selection of games to play, you have to have even more given to you at regular intervals like an IV drip? I just don't understand that mentality. I miss the days when people were overjoyed to find out that a game was even in development, and didn't feel that they somehow "deserved" a sequel, and as soon as possible if you don't mind.

Anyway, there's no point in bemoaning a lack of a new Zelda on Wii. One will be released when it's ready, and the longer it takes, the better it will be. Miyamoto has a serious problem with games being shoved out the door before they're anything less than stellar, so perhaps it's time to stop being upset that you're not going to be playing a new Zelda this year, and instead be thankful that when you DO get that new Zelda, it's going to be one of the best games you've played on the Wii.

Sky Render - Sanity is for the weak.

See, my thought is, that Zelda TP while being a GC game to a degree, really wasn't. The GC was all but finished, and the Wii was new. I think of TP as more of a launch title than the end of the last gen. Sure, the graphics could be boosted and the controls more focused on the Wii remote. Yet, I consider the Zelda game a wii game, since thats what Im playing it on. Its my 2nd fav so far, after OOT
