a blog no one ever heard of hears about this massive title, so if I say that Halo 5 will be developed by a rock on some random blog I create everyone will believe it?

the flood of Sony hate is phenomenal since E3. Eventually, the xbots will loose interest though, as they always do... until next E3.

Anyways, there definitely are a lot of FPS's, I find this a little bit confusing since Killzone 2 (the major one that Sony has hyped beyond belief) is just around the corner.

But if you think about the release dates, they wont be right on top of one another. Every 3 months on average, a top tier shooter will come out only for the PS3. and they lead in every other genre to, except for RPG's.

I find it amazing that XBOX has gone so drastically for the RPG's. It is a good and diverse genre to focus on, but the sales don't have the stability that Sony's shooters will have.

I love new exclusive franchises, the possibilities of them at this point in the console life cycles is very important.

Team ICO's project, MAG, Heavy Rain.
Those are very important to the success of Sony.

RPG's right...and sports games, and racing games (project gotham 3, project gotham 4, test drive unlimited, Forza 2 VS GT5P) and fighting games (DOA4, SF2online, UMK3 online, VF5 ONLINE! against VF5 no online and MK2 online) and FPS games and any other type of game that doesn't have MGS in its title.

For any type of game on ps3, there are 2 or 3 games like it on 360. Unless the game is MGS4...this is the sole jewel in ps3s crown at this point.

what I think SONY needs to do right now, make sure that depending on the number of 1st party games they are developing, make sure that evened out they have and equal or nearly equal amount of games in each genre. That would be pretty awesome........

4 ≈ One

name a popular game where you don't shoot anything? (other then racers, and fighting games)

Mario you shoot stuff, Zelda you shoot stuff, MK, R&C... almost every popular game requires you to move a character around, and shoot stuff.

For most people, the perspective considered to mimic reality the best, if 1st, or 3rd person. As time goes on, I think most games will start to use this.

That does not mean every game will be a FPS like we think of today. Fallout 3, Oblivian, and Fable 2 are examples of this taking shape. They will all be in 1st or 3rd person, but none of them are "shooters".

Cod4 did +9 million, Halo3 8 million, Gears 5 million, Resistance 3 million (cant argue sales) its the top selling genre ain't it.

Xbox death that what up with so many shooters, the only thing the x has is shooters and online. Sonys out to destroy their only strengths.

LOL.

Makes sense.

They know Japan belongs to the Wii but they'll definitely be in 2nd as the 360 can't touch them there. In Europe they're beating the far cheaper 360 so it seems secure as well. NA is where the battle is*. They've had the momentum as of late but they want to keep it rolling and ensure MS doesn't fight back. And FPS are hot right now so the western crowd will eat it up.

My only problem is with the recent obsession at overcrowding the multiplayer arena. R2 is doing 60 players IIRC. MAG says 256. Hardware 2 wants 50 vs. 50 or 100 man FFA.

Call me outdated but I like the intimacy of a smaller 2v2 or 4v4. When you know everyone else playing at the moment and communicate well with them. I've spent hundreds of hours playing Halo 2 in such smaller settings and I hope we at least have the option to keep smaller team matches going.

*Edit - I meant the battle with the 360 is more heated in NA.  Others seems to be where the hot battle for Wii vs. PS3 will end up.

The only people who have declared Sony the winner in Europe is Sony themselves.  On this very website you're posting on, they still haven't shown to be caught up to the Xbox 360 yet in Others.  In fact, when Sony announced they had passed the 360 in Europe, the general industry response from their competitor and from the gaming media was, "Has Sony checked their numbers recently?"

I'm not saying that they won't catch up in Europe, I'm just saying they haven't yet.

Domicinator, can you give me a link to a general industry response blog that said "Has Sony checked their numbers recently" i know someone posted this link for you already http://news.vgchartz.com/news.php?id=1310

but i still want to know what gaming media not to believe

You're putting a lot of stock into this PlayStation Lifestyle website...

They are announcing so many shooters because its easy.

Why? Well the basic ground to create shooters nowadays are so easy considering that it's been pretty much perfected. Secondly there doesn't need to be a lot of thought in really anything but the online and visual sections to capture hype. Gameplay is easy enough because of reason 1 and story and setting are so limited in choice nowadays that any pick is good. Finally the market is so wanting of this genre that almost anyone will sell pretty well, especially if it obtains that hype.

In a couple of years however, it's this kinda thing, that will actually make it too risky to put out a product like that. Why? Over saturation of the market.

I already admitted my mistake on the current numbers, so you can stop posting the link.

Sony declared victory in Europe well before they had actually achieved it.  And you know full well there is no "general industry response blog".  Don't be ridiculous.  I'm basing my statements on what I saw in counterstatements from MS and in the gaming media blogs like Joystiq.com, Kotaku.com, etc.  I'm not going to go hunting them down right now, and even if I did, I'm sure you'd say those sites/blogs are all MS shills anyway.
