this generation, Sony made the industry as big as it is today.

THIS generation? No. PS1/PS2 generation? Sure. They expanded the market a lot after all.

this genrations was aimed at brute's comment... the second part is for the previous..

That is a long read and I am about to go to bed so I am posting to easily find this thread tomorrow.

Nintendo keeps on repeating that core gaers are not being ignored, looks like they really mean it. What happened at E3 really hit them, core gamers still exist and they aknowledge that.

Miyamoto is without a doubt the most significant gaming icon, and he is gonna be the next president of Nintendo. He's a genius.

whats the poin of using categories if your just going to mix apples and oranges?

Of course your either just coming up with an anti-thesis or just joking. But if your serious then maybe you should regrasp the effects of Nintendo on the industry, not just the obvious controllers or 3d gaming or lock on, the console itself, by you saying that your suggesting that if it wasn't for the'ball' establishing gaming the industry wouldn't be where it is today.

I'm Unamerica and you can too.

The Official Huge Monster Hunter Thread:

The Hunt Begins 4/20/2010 =D

@The Anarchyz: It started when Shigeru made a game (in surveillance of Gumpei Yokoi) about a moustached carpenter, who was supposed to save a girl from a big ape. Donkey Kong was Nintendos first phenomenon, SMB came years later (although, it was just as phenomenical).

@ssj: Sony have had influence in gaming, but not like you suggested, as Rol said, it's largely because of population growth and the competitions lack of retail channel in certain regions. Besides, gaming going into 3D and cimematic games was an industrywide change, where Sony did contribute much about nothing, but since PSX stands as a "change in power" in games industry, people often seem to see it as an industry expanding console. The thing that Sony did with PSX, was that it marketed PSX heavily, which did help the console to reach larger (percentage of) audience.

@Topic: That was pretty good read, and nice to VGC used as a source.

that´s not what I am talking about and you know it. Every time some one mentions something Nintendo has acchieved you have to go in and mention Sony and if thats not possible you just refer to PC gaming is king anyway. It´s so sad that you always show what a tradegy of a human being you are. For once I would like you to aknowledge Nintendo wihout throwing in a but or if or mentioning Sony or PC, just straight up acknowledge the things Nitendo has done good when they actually have done something good.

Donkey Kong is the first appearance of Mario and Nintendo's first phenomenon (also made by Shigeru), we agree in that, but Donkey Kong was not the game that sold its way to the restoration of gaming on the US, all the retailer stores had the NES+SMB package, and the display on the stores was SMB... Donkey Kong was first, just like Pong or Asteroids were first, but the restoration of gaming after the crash were thanks to the NES and SMB...
