Forums - Nintendo - FFIV gametrailer review and thoughts

Ok, first watch the review, then come back

...

...

Ok, couple of things.

9.2/10 game looks great.

Individual weapon models, freakin' awesome.

The game reminds me of FFVII in the looks department, as in the forest battle scene.

This looks like the best handheld RPG yet, to be honest. Obviously an epic undertaking, and the enemy models looks absolutely amazing.

This review convinced me to purchase the game. Scores of around 9 from gametrailers, gamespot, and IGN will do that. I'm really quite taken with this game, and I hated FFIII.

I have never played FFIV before. That means that in all likelyhood this game will actually be better for me than most reviews indicate.

The sountrack has been upgraded.

The difficulty has actually been increased unlike the normal stigma for DS games which says they are too easy.

We spend a lot of our time fawning over "years away" games on the PS3, and 360, when we have a JRPG like this on the DS right now.

How lucky can gamers get. This game, or more accurately, this review, just blew my socks off.

Thoughts on the review? Lets steer clear of talking points though. In other words, I wouldn't like a lot of posts pointing out how this game sucks because they have played it 4 other times, or how Square-Enix sold out, or even how the graphics would have been better on the PSP. Lets keep this discussion positive and on topic. This is a discussion about a DS game, not the PSP or even the DS console. You can, of course, discuss whatever you want, but I'm letting you know up front. Nonsense will be harshly criticized.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

I'm probably going to get it...

Former something....

The remake is amazing and it also has better graphics than FFVII. Just look at the character models of both games. The game stands up to alot of Rpgs today. FFIV was my first final fantasy and my second favorite. The remake is amazing, and I hope FFVI(my favorite FF) gets the same treatment. Then maybe in the next generation of handhelds we see remakes for FFIX, or maybe FFVIII, and FFVII(I don't really care too much for it). Square Enix really knows how to make you rebuy a game. (: One of the best Rpgs on the ds, and if it was a new game it would probably be the best.

It's a great game but I'm really not seeing the increased difficulty everyone is going on about. Anybody else not having a particularly difficult time with this?

It's a great game. Mind you, I'm a bit biased, since FF IV is my favorite ever, but I still maintain my opinion. As to the review, it did a good job of telling you what to expect, pro and con. There's not much to add to the review, save that the voice acting is god-awful.

@exindguy: the difficulty ramps up half way through. Don't worry: you'll know when you hit it.

@Exindguy Its suppose to have the difficulty of the Japanese version of the original. I noticed some, but it really wasn't as difficult as people make it out to be.

I've bought too many Final Fantasy games which were disappointing. I'll pass.

Just watch the review, before you get some hot grease poured on you.

The review says it doesn't ramp up till halfway through.

Geez, I really dig the voice acting

Good to hear it does pick up a bit, though, because, so far, it's just been me and my steel-toed boots curb-stomping everything in Cecil and co's path.

@sc94497:

Huh. I guess the Japanese version (at least to where I am) wasn't really any harder than the oft-maligned US rev.

I'll pass to its like they want to make the 360/ps3 version better than the nintendo versions and I don't want second best......... FF started on nintendo but they continue are story on a playstation, thats kinda dumb I guess there ain't any real FF fans anymore since they all started with 7or8or maybe even the new ps3 one I guess they don't want to know the whole story or care about a story at all.........
