Forums - Nintendo - Wii: No More Nintendo Surprises This Year

There's some cool third-party stuff coming this year, like de Blob and Deadly Creatures. Not to mention Guitar Hero, and the Call of Duty this year looks like it'll actually be a decent version for Wii-only owners.

Around the Network

We cannot have Mario game every year....
We have AC and Wario... Plus third parties.
2009 is my hope for Zelda... probably on the third Quarter

I think Nintendo is counting on SSBB, MKWii, and WiiFit to carry the holidays.... and you know what? They will.

Last year the only game we got was Metriod in Sept, and Galaxy in Nov, but then again Brawl was suppossed to be a Holiday title, and was delayed. I am pretty sure they expect Galaxy, Brawl, MK, and WiiFit to post amazing sales, and they do not want to stunt the sales of those games with new product.

AC to me would not have much affect on killing the legs of any of those titles.

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

Animal Crossing is all I need for this year

We have seen the extent of Nintendo's line-up for Christmas?

I hope not.

It's fine with me.  Wario Land and Animal Crossing are enough from them with the amount of big 3rd party stuff coming. Neither Sony or Microsoft have more than 2 first party games I care about this holiday.  For Sony it's LBP and Resistance 2... LBP I care about more than the 2 Wii games and Resistance 2 much less.  For MS it's Fable 2 only.

What big third party games? Star wars?

Probably buying this year on Wii:

-Star Wars: Force Unleashed (instead of the PS3 version)
-de Blob
-Deadly Creatures
-Call of Duty: World at War (need a good local multiplayer Wii game)
-Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop
-Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World

Maybe buying this year on Wii:

-Quantum of Solace (may buy PC version)
-Castlevania Judgement
-Guitar Hero: World Tour
-Spider-Man: Web of Shadows (may buy PC or PS3 version)

Plus there is a bunch of stuff I still haven't bought that I want to play.  Boom Blox, Blast Works, and Chocobo's Dungeon mainly.

I mean, it's fine for me.  Cause I'll only be playing AC and maybe Dead Rising on the Wii.  I'll be busy playing Gears 2 or Fable 2 or something on the 360, and maybe a PS3, so I'll be fine.

But Wii-only owners may not have enough to play.

Do you get paid by Microsoft/Sony for saying stuff like this? I always suspected that you are a shill!!!

Lolz, maybe

@ Naz

I forgot Tales!  That too!

Also if you think about what have they done for the DS?
Last year all they gave it was Zelda, Maybe BT2, and it sold like madness.
The Wii is like the DS in many ways, they don't need to bury into the ground like the other console do. Games like brawl, kart, wiisport, wiifit, and even SMG give MONTHS of gameplay. Nintendo figures gamers who need a new game ever other week own more than just a Wii anyways.

id never buy a 3rd party game thats on the ps3 on wii... star wars on ps3 for me.

Is a good line-up, they give a third parties chance to sell their games without competition of Nintendo.

The Wii version has 5 extra levels and an exclusive multiplayer mode... if I cared so much about graphics I never would have bought a Wii or a PS3. I would only play games on my gaming PC.
