Just had this little thought rolling around in my head, and figured I'd see what other people thought.

If you had two options, but not both, which would you choose?

1.) come out with a new EBA2 in the states, or

2.) bring out a translated Ouendan and Ouendan 2 for release in the states

for me, the idea of the translated Ouendan would be really tempting, but I'd actually prefer a new EBA2, since that would mean that there would be 4 games total if you were willing to import.

Ouendan is much better, but you are right about 4 games being better than 3.

I've imported Ouendan and Ouendan 2 right after beating EBA (first and only time I import anything.

So, EBA 2 would be better for me, as I already played the two Ouendan games. Even untranslated, most of the little stories are understandable.

EBA 2. The music appeals to me more than Ouendan's, even if Ouendan has allegedly better gameplay.

For those that don't know, Ouendan is the original japanese game that Elite Beat Agents was based off of. It has roughly the same basic gameplay as EBA, but the storylines are tied in closer to japanese culture, where EBA has more western culture injected in it.

Instead of having government agents that Dance, Ouendan has what is essentially cheerleaders, but keep in mind, cheering has an entirely different view in japan and many asian cultures. They aren't just there for the audience to watch, they are actual Cheer LEADERS, in that they guide the audience in many ways like Maestros conduct an orchestra. There is very heavily believed that a strong cheering section can have an even bigger impact on the outcome of a game than the skill of the players in the game, which is where you get the whole idea of using dance and movement to improve the outcome for the person you're cheering for.

As for the gameplay, it's the same type of thing where you hit the numbered dots and follow the ball and spin the spinner, but the implementation has a slightly different flavor. in higher difficulty levels, you usually only barely have enough time to spin the spinner to full charge, where in EBA the dots usually form a contiguous flow in one direction, Ouendan has more cases where it loops back on itself, and where EBA tends to have the ball roll in simple curves or straight lines, Ouendan throws in a lot more waves and zigzag patterns.

I would choose EBA2.
