Optimized UE engine for PS3 - Intriguing

PS2 waggle - If this rumor has any merit, I can see it backfiring more than assisting Sony. I mean ... think about it. Now the PS2 has a waggle wand. Assuming devs even decide to support it, those games will be ported to Wii. And the best "waggle" games are coming straight from Nintendo, so those won't ever be on a Sony machine. And, if after getting a taste for "waggle" the casual consumer enjoys it, can you guess which machine they'll probably upgrade to?

I think it is in Sony's best interest to leave the PS2 be, price and all. No more huge-tastic games are coming out for it, why bother?

yea i could see it backfiring too.... it would just confuse customers even more... and other than price give people another reason not to get a ps3 ... that and lack of games... but the game problem is almost solved... i think july will have the most game releases since the ps3 launched...

Agreed on waggle PS2 being a horrible idea.

What's with the darkness reviews?  That averages to an 8, guess that game just dropped off my radar.

What's with people complaining about EGM?  IMO they are the most nuetral remaining gaming magazine out there.  Of course you aren't going to agree with EVERY review they give, but reviews will never ALWAYS share your tastes in games.  They obviously don't hate Nintendo, they gave Twilight Princess the first perfect score for a game they have given out since Metroid Prime, and made it game of the year.

Nice issue.  I'm picking up Crush for my PSP soon.  I hate how other PSP owners buy so many crappy games though.  There really are some great games on the PSP, you just need to know where to look.

Pfff... PS2's wagglewand for 99US$... I wanna see that stupid shit...! And they think people make games for it?!Hahahahaha... The the masses can't play it cause they have a 'normal' Ps2... So stupid XD... If this is true!

And for the rest: Havok physics for SSB: Brawl! Too coowl ...

If they did it it will be a new version where if you wanted to play that you'd get the new PS2. The older games will probably be mapped to motion controls on the new controller.

If it was mapped to older games, that would require careful mapping and callibration of each move and press, for each game you want motion controlled, and each game profile would likely have to be stored on a memory card.

Yet if they can make that system intuitive, it would do well, although likely not as well as the Wii, as you'd have to be a hardcore gamer to actually bother doing that with your games.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Actually, Vice City got a perfect 10 after MP1. I just don't know if there have been any since.

Ah, you're right.  Sorry about that.  Forgot Vice City was released after MP.

Darkenss got a 7.5 from Gamepro, if you wanted to know more scores for the Darkness.

I think the PS2 waggle is just dumb, but the fact is, they probablly added that crazy rumor to mask the real fact that the PS2 will probably drop to $99 at Christmas and sell like hotcakes (very hot hotcakes). Could it still outsell the Wii and 360?

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

I believe the Capcom PS3 exclusive is not just any Monster Hunter game -- it's going to be an MMO.

While the difficulty in actually making a PS2 with motion sensing work properly is obvious, what if they pulled it off? This idea that it would confuse gamers isn't necessarily a bad thing. It would confuse them as they see 2 consoles with motion games and one is 100 dollars while the other is 250.

In case Sony does this and actually supports it with the kind of game that the Wii is selling on to casuals (Wii Sports type stuff) then it could be a huge challenge to the Wii because in the end the Wii's success is primarily from casuals not Nintendo' fanbase and they will go for a cheaper motion enabled console if it is supported properly by party type games.

The idea that this will delay people adopting the PS3 doesn't apply in the case of the mass casual market because the PS3 price is way too far for them to go for it anyway (even if it came down to 500 or 450 dollars). So that shouldn't be an obstacle against going with a plan like this.

In reality though, I think the chances of this rumor coming true are very slim and the chances of it being done right are slim as well so this probably won't come to fruition.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!
