It will sell better on the Xbox 360 because Xbox 360 already had a million seller with Dead or Alive 4. PS3 hasnt had a million selling fighter yet to follow up on.

Yoda is a turn off (like Gon in Tekken 3). At first, I hated the thought of Star Wars guys in Soul Calibur. Now, my decision may be based on which Star Wars character I like the most! I still think the 360 version takes overall sales, though. |
This game is begging to have DLC with those characters or others...

Doesn't really contradict my arguement but I personally just can't use a joystick for a fighting game. Perhaps its easier on soul calibur due to the 8-way run but for 2D fighters like MK and street fighter and 3D fighters like Tekken...not so much. But if you can use them, have fun with them!

Yeah to be honest I'm inclined to agree, there is something very "precise" about the Dual Shock controller it does feel more intuitive and I can react quicker with it in fighting games.
I think before I actually used the 360 controller a lot I'd have completely agreed, but when you get used to the analogue stick on the 360 it is *almost* as good as the dpad on the Dual Shock for some things and vice versa for others...
oranges and apples, or swings and roundabouts as they say, I think I have this thing where I *want* to like using the analogue stick because it seems abit more arcadey lol...I did buy an Virtua Fighter 5 EX2 fighting stick by hori but I find it feels abit cheap (no microswitches on the buttons, only the joystick)...again I *try* to like that...
Just a matter of getting used to it I spose like with the controllers.

Virtua Fighter 4 was only release on the PS2....
I'm really excited about this game.
I agree that the 360's dpad is slightly worse, but it's not game breaking, it just takes some getting used to.
I would probably still perfer the 360 version due to the extra achievements it would add to my gamerscore.
Yoda and Darth, imo, are both good characters, lol. Darth is slightly cooler.
In the end, however, there really is little or no difference, besides achievements, that matter to me.
I think it will be very close in sales, due to Japan. Too close to call, and within the margin for error. If I had to guess, I would say 360, just due to my assumptions towards the sales of past 360 software.
I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.
NO NO, NO NO NO.
Has anybody else seen all of the Marketing they're devoting to SCIV? I saw a commercial for it probably 5 times just last night. Considering how pretty the game is, I think this marketing could drive sales to much higher averages than we predicted. I would even say that the prediction league averages are about 100,000-150,000 too low for both systems.
The last time I can remember seeing 5 commercials for one game in one sitting (any commercials while watching G4 excluded), it was for Assasins Creed. Frankly, i think the main reason AC did so well (for a new IP) is that it looked so effing good in commercials. That said, I hope the SC commercials bring similar surprisingly good sales to SCIV for both systems.
Obviously i want it to do well so this could be wishful thinking...
but really I have always thought of it as a franchise that deserves more of a mainstream following--its always so pretty and so well executed (SC Legends excluded) that imo it really deserves it.
It's been reported by Namco that Soul Calibur shipped a MASSIVE 2 million copies!
http://www.namcobandaigames.com/news/press/press/304
Pretty strong numbers, and about 1 million more than I expected...I think it's going to be 50/50 in Other/Japan split for PS3 and a whopping 70/30 split for Xbox in NA, and eventually, we will see another GTA result for the 360 WW.
Looks like the 360 managed to edge it out. Big margin in America, with PS3 getting the others.
I love how many folks are dining on a main course of crow and some humble pie for dessert. Interesting 360 numbers. Amazing.
I think a lot of bots are so blinded by their devotion to the PS3 that they willing suspend reality and speak out of their arse. Sure, DMC4 sold slightly better on the PS3, but - correct me if I am wrong, but since when was Soul Calibur a PS only game? My heavens - it was multiplat last time and this time, with the Wii and 360 firmly in No. 1 and the No. 2 spots, to think the PS3 could pull it off for this week was loopy at best.
Reality is - PS2 owners have very little reason to buy a PS3 if they have to pay more money for a version of the game that provides a familiar joystick design and layout. Only my G25 is worth me paying $120 more for the game on the PS3. That's it.
It's just starting ...
