Personally, I think at some point the controls will be better than a game pad, but still inferior to a keyboard/mouse. There are a few obvious obstacles to overcome, and it's simply going to take some clever thinking to circumvent them. The easiest and most important example is centering: if you're pointing the Wii remote at the screen, and are already on the far left side, it's hard to turn farther left. With a mouse, you simply pick it up, put it back on the center of the mouse pad, and drop it again. Done. Nothing like that is immediately possible on the Wii mote, but I can think of a few lame ways to get around the problem. We'll see. Please note that I say this will be true at some point: it may not be Metroid Prime that jumps all these hurdles. |
Actually, there is a great way to do that (credit to RE4 Wii edition for this): You simply hold down the trigger to enter a mode where you can then turn the camera much quicker (i.e, the pointer is always centered on the screen and when you move the Wiimote the camera moves).
