Forums - Microsoft - New Xbox 360 problems?

On PC version of morrowind you could tweak the way landscape is loaded when outdoor, I don't know if the same apply to XBox version, although I'm still angry against MS and XBox 1 because its scarce memory is the reason why in all versions outdoor space was divided in so small parts with continuous and sometimes faulty loading and indoor was separed from outdoor, taking away continuity and the possibility of looking in and out, even shooting, through windows and doors, as is possible, for example, in Gothic.
It's also the reason why Thief 3 levels are divided in parts, while previous games of the series had huge levels that were loaded entirely at once, without dividing them in parts.

Around the Network

I picked up a logitech play link from Ebay for $20 bucks. It's a piece of cake to set up. One complaint, though, is the throughput. It is not terribly fast so it will take longer to download content. It does work flawlessly, though.

I just got a 360 last week becuase of the $50 price cut. It has randomly frozen 3 times while playing Oblvion, and I have only played for about 20 hours. Happened 5 minutes after playing, another time 3 hours after playing, and another time about 30 minutes of playing... so it seems random. I can still access the XBM and go to the blades, and arcade games ahve never failed on me.
Is this normal/a glitch with oblivion? It seems like a computer game that 360 can't rully run; textures of far away objects are terrible and then improve and then grass/flowers pop up, and in crowded fights there is slowdown. Is it the game, or my 360 that is casuing this mildy annoying problem. Am I headed for RRoD in the future? How do I combat this? I keep my 360 lying down on a shelf that has bars and then empty space on the bottom, so it is fully ventilated. I have played up to 6 hours at a time. Should 2 hours then a 1/2 hour break be my max? What do I do? I can't really return it becuase I bought it on vacation at a far away circuit city :(

Sell it on Ebay and get a PS3.  I have Oblivion on both and it runs WAY better on the PS3 (and looks loads better too, especially in terms of distance and colors).  I have had nothing but trouble with the 360 and have ceased using it for about a year now.  Seriously, the PS3 is WELL worth the extra 100 bucks, in fact if you want wireless with the 360 you'll pay the SAME for the reduced premium as for the 80GB PS3 (since the wireless adapter costs 100 dollars).

I never had freezes like that on Oblivion when I had it for 360 so its probably more your system then the game.  The slowdown and pop up did happen (and happens in a lot of 360 games) but in terms of RRODing its not that its dying, its the 360s lack of power.

Seriously, PS3, all the great games, none of the problems.

Is it the Elite?
Our store had to pull all our 360 Elites for a recall back to MS. Reason? None of us seem to know.

Oh? What store?
