I don't have any other games. I plan to get blue dragon and viva pinata once I beat oblivion.

Its almost definately the game, Oblivion has crashed countless times for me but no other games I play does.

You should listen to this guy.  He owns practically the entire 360 library.

Holy crap you have to be kidding. I have never had my Nintendo Systems just freeze. Maybe you're too used to MS and Sony's stuff.

ummmm........liar and troll

I was  thinking the same thing, since the Wii just froze lastnight when my kids were playing it...lol.

Oh, This happened to me, -I think- its something to do with the games cache.
Don't worry its happened to me five times when I got the game, Works like a charm now.

I think that sounds more like Oblivion crashing (such a massive game has a lot of bugs).

All game consoles freeze from time to time, some software is more prone to it than others.

My N64 freezes a lot.

And I had SMG freeze on me the other day.

Maybe everything in my house is faulty.

Ironically the only console that hasn't frozen on me is my PS2...........

My PS3 has never frozen on me, My 360 only once, Wii, never as well.

I can't remember the PS2, to long ago :p

In our house we've had to send the wii into repairs a number of times. Its ironic but in my house the 360 is more reliable lol.

I just got a 360 last week becuase of the $50 price cut. It has randomly frozen 3 times while playing Oblvion, and I have only played for about 20 hours. Happened 5 minutes after playing, another time 3 hours after playing, and another time about 30 minutes of playing... so it seems random. I can still access the XBM and go to the blades, and arcade games ahve never failed on me.
Is this normal/a glitch with oblivion? It seems like a computer game that 360 can't rully run; textures of far away objects are terrible and then improve and then grass/flowers pop up, and in crowded fights there is slowdown. Is it the game, or my 360 that is casuing this mildy annoying problem. Am I headed for RRoD in the future? How do I combat this? I keep my 360 lying down on a shelf that has bars and then empty space on the bottom, so it is fully ventilated. I have played up to 6 hours at a time. Should 2 hours then a 1/2 hour break be my max? What do I do? I can't really return it becuase I bought it on vacation at a far away circuit city :(

any circuit city will exchange it you should or call ms and ship it to them and be with out for 2-3 weeks. I got an exchange unit after my first rrod at 16 months and it would play for an hour then just snap and reboot.

I say snap because thats the sound it made. I called my snap360. It was covered and I exchanges it for an elite plus $80.00 more and I got the 2 yr warranty at best buy so if something goes wrong I can go get another one.

still its been great no problems but do something call ms or call circuit city. Dont wait.

one other thing have you connected it to online and gotten any updates???? itcould be an update issue if not call ms.

yea whenever i play oblivion it freezez up alot and when i use to play morrowind on my normal xbox that use to freeze up all the time i think that world of gaming is just too complex

You can by a gimmick that runs your internet through the electrical outlets, it may be the ethernet bridge another person mentioned.  You plug your ethernet cable from your router into one box and plug it into the electrical outlet, then you plug another ethernet cable into the other box and plug it into the outlet next to your XBOX and hook that ethernet cable to your XBOX. Your internet travels right through the wall, about $30 - $35 and your problem is solved. Wi-Fi is some bogus, lame ass s#%t anyways!

My ethernet cable is plugged into a wirless router, but that has 3 unused cable outlets in the back. So, I could buy another cable, and plug that cable into this box, then in my basement plug another one of these boxes into an outlet near my 360, and then plug that cable into the 360 itself?
