I don't think so... not for just one game...

Yeah. I can't wait to find out what series they decide to include. They'll probably stay pretty safe for the first iteration. New PS2 one comes out in September. |
I know, "Z" is coming out on PS2 in September. I was quite disappointed when they announced "Z" for PS2. Japanese developers are way too conservative and I can understand that they feel safer to release games for PS2, rather than PS3.... Just look at Persona 4 and Super Robot War Z. If they take a chance, they may get rewarded because a great number of PS3 owners in Japan will literately buy anything at this moment.... Oh well.
Unfortunately, I don't have a console that will play Japanese PS2 games, so I will pass on "Z". I was thinking of getting the "alpha" remake on PSP, but I heard the developer adjusted the AI too far, making it extremely difficult to beat.....
I've just finished the "MX" on PSP 5 minutes ago and the last chapter took me nearly 4 hours (400,000 HP for the final boss). MX on PSP is known for its notorious long loading time. Besides, I really don't like to staring at handheld monitors too long because it makes my eye very uncomfortable. So, I may just keep patiently waiting for Banpresto to announce Super Robot War on PS3.

It (PS3's market share) might hit 30%, but definently not more. ~ Neo

PSP's are region free? Had no idea. Guess that explains why japanese PSPs were such hot commodities in Japan though.
With the publishers... I don't blame them. I mean.. Niche games have a very small base. You've got to make sure that base has moved on.... and while they'll likely buy a system for your games... not a system as expensive as the PS2.
I mean look at Disgaea 2 VS Disgaea 3.
Sales are only about 70% what they were on PS2. Which... isn't bad considering the userbase difference... but these niche games probably work on the edge as it is... while on PS2 is cheaper... and would likely sell more copies. I mean look at the amazing sales for Persona 4.
The next one after S might have the same problem(rumored to be a PS3 project). Just like Disgaea this series really hasn't been about pushing technology.
My biggest fear is they make a PS3 one and a Wii one and the Wii one does better leading to more Wii ports... as Banpresto loved to spread the love... even Gamecube got a SRW game. Of course now that it's under Bandai/Namco who knows what they'll do. Hopefully a long line of region free PS3 games i can import.

For just MGS4 ONLY, then no. Just rent or borrow from a friend.

Yes, both DS and PSP are region free.
At least Persona and Disgaea have pretty solid fan base in NA and Europe. Super Robot War series can only be released in Japan and some Asian countries. I guess Banpresto is more cautious for this reason.
Yes, Banpresto will make/port Super Robot War games to any console. Beside Wii, PSP is another big threat...... By the way, there is a rumour out there saying the PS3 version is currently under development. Hope that is true.
(we should end this subject before WOW jump in and turn this thread into a super robot war thread, lol)

Hah fair enough. As for that "any system" thread. I know that. I mean that video i posted was from the 360 game. A 360 version of a game that can only be released in Japan? Gamecube remake or not that's crazy. PSP i'd be fine with since it's region free. I heard about the Ps3 version being developed... thought it was more then a rumor though.

I bought DS and PS1 just for Final Fantasy games. I was happy. But money was no object back in the day. Now, I am a poor college student trying to find something to sell so I can buy some games. (Plasma? Kidney?)
I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.
Microsoft has brain washed people into thinking a console is only good for one game (halo...) But the Ps3 has more than just MGS4, it also has AAA hits like Killzone2, GoWIII coming Jak n Daxter, Sly Cooper (no confirmed) Ratchet, Resistances, White Knight Chronicles so don't just think, "Hey do i have to get this system because of one game think of the array of games that is coming with the system as well as benefits like blu ray and wifi and free online
| disolitude said: lol...modding an xbox and talking about it on a gamer forum. Not wise... Otherwise I did the same thing, I got the PS3 for mgs4...and sold it last week. It will be a while till killzone 2 comes out...and there may be a pricecut in the meantime so selling it was wise considering Killzone 2 and maybe resistance 2 are the only games that interest me in the ps3s game lineup for the next year. |
If you got the 60gig module you would have apperciated the worth of the ps3 and didn't sell it. Its really not like the xbox as that many more GREAT games than the ps3 and that number is decreasing substantial amounts as the year goes on. LBP here we come
| kira hibiki said: Well I manage to borrow my uncle's PS3 for a month since he is not using it at the moment, along with Uncharted, heavenly sword, MGS4, DW6, flow, Winning eleven and Lair. Any PSN games that I can consider? My uncle got a HK$200 card for me to buy games with but I am not sure what to get. |
Try the following PSN games; They're pretty cheap and fun:
- Super Stardust HD
- Tekken 5: DR
- PixelJunk Monsters
- Everyday Shooter
- Echochrome
