PSP's are region free? Had no idea. Guess that explains why japanese PSPs were such hot commodities in Japan though.
With the publishers... I don't blame them. I mean.. Niche games have a very small base. You've got to make sure that base has moved on.... and while they'll likely buy a system for your games... not a system as expensive as the PS2.
I mean look at Disgaea 2 VS Disgaea 3.

Sales are only about 70% what they were on PS2. Which... isn't bad considering the userbase difference... but these niche games probably work on the edge as it is... while on PS2 is cheaper... and would likely sell more copies. I mean look at the amazing sales for Persona 4.
The next one after S might have the same problem(rumored to be a PS3 project). Just like Disgaea this series really hasn't been about pushing technology.
My biggest fear is they make a PS3 one and a Wii one and the Wii one does better leading to more Wii ports... as Banpresto loved to spread the love... even Gamecube got a SRW game. Of course now that it's under Bandai/Namco who knows what they'll do. Hopefully a long line of region free PS3 games i can import.

Yes, both DS and PSP are region free.
At least Persona and Disgaea have pretty solid fan base in NA and Europe. Super Robot War series can only be released in Japan and some Asian countries. I guess Banpresto is more cautious for this reason.
Yes, Banpresto will make/port Super Robot War games to any console. Beside Wii, PSP is another big threat...... By the way, there is a rumour out there saying the PS3 version is currently under development. Hope that is true.
(we should end this subject before WOW jump in and turn this thread into a super robot war thread, lol)

Hah fair enough. As for that "any system" thread. I know that. I mean that video i posted was from the 360 game. A 360 version of a game that can only be released in Japan? Gamecube remake or not that's crazy. PSP i'd be fine with since it's region free. I heard about the Ps3 version being developed... thought it was more then a rumor though.
