Forums - Sales - Which FFXIII will move more units?

Interested to see what people think about this.

On the one hand, MS has the install base advantage, and they seem to be pushing the JRPG market hard.

On the other hand, FFXIII is big in Japan, and Sony fans are more familiar with the series than Xbox fans. These factors were enough for the PS3 to win DMC4 sales battle; are they enough here?

Games machines owned: C64*, NES, SNES*, PS1, PS2*, PS3* (*still own).

That's easy; PS3 version due to Japan.

Yeah, the Ps3...

FF13 in japan will move pretty much ps3s, in us and europe it will be much less.

Xbox will theoretically sell more "new" units as they just announced it, but the PS3 will sell more in total because they have been advertising it as exclusive for 3 years now.

Worldwide, the numbers will be close. The 360 has a huge advantage outside of Japan, but there will be no Japanese 360 release at all, and that may be enough to cancel things out.

Hardware-wise, FFXIII will fail to move large numbers of extra units post-release, just as MGS4, Halo 3, GTA4, and other games have. That's just now how HD console sales work.

Complexity is not depth. Machismo is not maturity. Obsession is not dedication. Tedium is not challenge. Support gaming: support the Wii.

What do I hate about modern gaming? I hate tedium replacing challenge, complexity replacing depth, and domination replacing entertainment. I hate the outsourcing of mechanics to physics textbooks, art direction to photocopiers, and story to cheap Hollywood screenwriters. I hate the confusion of obsession with dedication, style with substance, new with gimmicky, old with obsolete, new with evolutionary, and old with time-tested.
There is much to hate about modern gaming. That is why I support the Wii.

The ps3 will have more units sold, because

1 The game has been announced and in development since before the ps3s launch. If people bought a console for the game then they most likely bought a ps3.

2 Japan competes with NA as the most popular region for final fantasy games. Japan is very important, and the game not being released in Japan for the 360 means that the ps3 will probably have millions of more sales.

3 Multiplatform owners, like myself, would probably buy the ps3 version just because there is less discs.

I would say the 360 would sell a good number of copies though, but not anywhere close to the number of copies sold for the PS3.

lol
its hard to tell it depends all on japan... as "others" and USA will be about even in sales with the chance of 360 being higher (because of install base).

Even tho when these games finally come out the install base might be much closer as the ps33 is still selling far better then 360 so time will tell.

You ought to clarify the question (edit: in the title) because my initial thought was between XIII and Versus XIII, which will. without a doubt, swing in XIII's favor due to its multiplat status. If Versus also turns out to be multiplat then its anyone's game.

As for which platform will sell more copies of XIII it will be the PS3 without contest due to the strength of the name on Playstation consoles, and the fact that it's still Japan-exclusive on PS3.

Please tell me this advantage. The ps3 will most likely pass the 360 in others by then, and the difference in the americas would probably be far less than it is now. Also see the other reasons I listed in my first post. So I don't see how it is going to be as close, or even close at all as you are lead to beleive. Also Japan will count as millions more sales so that enough should guaruntee the ps3 as having more sales.
