Not if you buy one of the bundles. Otherwise yes, but you can get a cheap one for less than 10 bucks, although they are ridiculously small. You can find a 1 gig for somewhere between 10-20 if you look. You get a 1 gig card in the bundles.
The current bundles out there are:
Daxter bundle (worst of the bunch, but has silver PSP)
God of War: COO bundle (best value, red PSP)
Ratchet and Clank bundle (silver PSP)
Star Wars Battlefront bundle (discontinued)
Maybe one more out there?

Well you can use the PSP for many things... It's more of a media device than gaming imo. There aren't enough games on it that I like (all depends on tastes) but it's still a good system.
If you prefer RPGs and Nintendo franchises, you should get a DS.
It comes down to what you want to use it for. If you're wanting all the multimedia features and the ability to emulate games on older systems, get a PSP. If you strictly want it for gaming, get a DS. Personally I am only interested in gaming so the DS is better for me. If you're looking for an argument from me in terms of which one to get I can only say this:
CHRONO TRIGGER DS.
whats with all the NDS fans coming in here to tell everyone how much better the DS is over the PSP? The original poster opened up 2 threads to discuss the relevant merits of each.

you can get up to.... 8 or 16 gigs of memory for it tho. And all your ps1 titles from your psn can go on it aswell.. (if you have a ps3)
you can even copy some blu rays into smaller formats to put on it.. pretty cool i think.

i have 4 gb memory card for mine, hols about 6 movies, and 20 albums with about a gig to spare. i'll get a bigger memory card eventually!

There is also a Madden 09 bundle comming ;)
But Il rather buy a bigger ( 4-8 GB ) stick if I where you ...

The console ports to handhelds are terrible. The screen is too small to enjoy them and with the 3D games you get dizzy after a while.
The best games are the ones designed for handhelds in the first place. So don't bite with these 'concole games'. Check the titles that are original! It's important!!!
