Forums - Microsoft - The Comprehensive RPG Index: Upcoming RPGs for the Xbox 360

Cry on would be an exceedingly expensive piece of vaporware the title had a eight and a half million dollar starting budget. I suspect that the development is very sheltered, and that there has been no pressing need for disclosure. Further more there is no cause to fast track the title. The above list demonstrates the fact that the 360 is practically glutted with titles. Honestly I hope they have an ample development cycle on this title action role-playing games are rather difficult to do well.

That is a first rate list, and its still missing a few titles yet. I tried the demo of both Tales and Too human. I honestly did not enjoy the Tales demo. I suppose I prefer free action, or turn based. I just couldn't follow the insanity that was on screen. Still Too Human, Fable, and Fallout do show some promise. Out of curiosity are all the JRPGs being released this year in the same combat style as Tales of Vesperia? I just didn't enjoy it for much the same reason that the Eternal Sonata didn't resonate with me.

probably will download all of them. =)

There also Last Remnant coming this year.)

Are you implying that you would steal the developers work?

You can`t steal intelligent property, lol, noob.

I`m saying, that i`m not going to support M$, if developers were so stupid to release their games on hacked hardware, when there is an alternative, then they made their choice. =))

Bah!

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

I still have to add atleast 4 more RPGs (Zoids, TLR, Marvel 2, and Sacred 2) for 2008 releases...Not including Cry On, which should be December 2008 in Japan as well.

So it's going to be very, very busy for Xbox 360 owners that enjoy RPGs.

Cry On in December in Japan?  Not likely.  Have you heard anything about this game in the last six months other than concept art that may or may not be from the game?  Much as I would love it, I can't see it happening.

This entire list is awesome, but Fable 2 dominates.

To take this one step further, is there any real proof that Cry On is anything other than vaporware? I haven't heard a thing about this game since it was first announced back in 2005 or 2006. Not one screenshot, trailer, announcement, nothing.

"I pity da foo' who think I make vaporware!"

Nice list, too bad i'm not into RPG's.

I have Lost Oddyssey sitting there in its factory wrapping. has been for around 3 months :P.

I *Might* try Fable 2 though.

A few notes:

  • Cry On has been in development since December 2005 (2 and 1/2 years ago)
  • Mistwalker hasn't announced a single other game on the X360 since LO was finished
  • How much media did we get for Lost Odyssey or Blue Dragon >1 month before launch?

Lost Odyssey had a playable demo in 2006, but very, very little media afterwards. There was almost a 1 year blackout before we had much news about it. Very similar story for Blue Dragon.

Also, there has been a little bit of CO news to come around about 1-2 months ago. It could be later (maybe March 09), but considering how low-key Mistwalker is, I bet we'll start hearing a bit about it at TGS08 later this year.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Spectral Force made the list?....k

Just asking, what's wrong with Spectral Force that isn't wrong with Disgaea 3?

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

mrstickball, thanks very much for this list. I enjoyed it, and I think I game as much as anyone here, so there is no doubt that I will eventually buy every "good" rpg on this list, that is rpgs that are even reasonably bad, I will buy.

Crazzy, you should get sigged for this. Because that is the most offensive post I've read on these forums.

You imply that because developers decided to put their games on the 360 instead of the PS3, they deserve to have them pirated, and in essence to lose their money and their jobs, because they could have developed on the PS3, but instead chose another system? You truely are the Crazzyman, and the ugliness of that statement might follow you for a long time.

People who make these games are getting fewer with the more casual games that are made. If we don't support them, then next year we won't have a Tales of Vespiria coming out on any console. Please don't pirate, or promote pirating games in the future, because your hurting everyone, even your prescious Sony and PS3. If you are low on money, buy them used or rent them. At the very least your being ligitimate in your dealings and not breaking the law.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

O.O Geez so many good RPGs, and I can't buy all of them. I'm definitely getting Fable 2 but Infinite Undiscovery, The Last Remnant, Tales of Vesperia and Fallout 3 interest me as well.
