Forums - Nintendo - 3rd party publishers feels about the conduit... very very sad :(

Take Two just popped into my mind as a candidate, since "the 20 dollar games" is the only thing they've put on the Wii so far.

As for what Benga was talking about, Capcom has put out two million-selling Resident Evil games on Wii (yes, games that us Wii owners aren't interested in) so they are the ones that should know that there's a market for the type of games.

And Nintendo have also published Geist, which i think qualifies as a shooter.

Ei Kiinasti.

Eikä Japanisti.

Vaan pannaan jalalla koreasti.

Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.

It doesn't matter who said that and trying to figure out who it was (a.k.a. throwing some names around) is useless. The important (and disturbing) fact here is that someone in this industry thinks that way... and we know he/she is not the only one who thinks like that. And that, my friends, is saddening.

But the fact that very few publishers actually bring quality games to Wii says that many publishers think that way. That's why I made my comment on page one that if the industry implodes under its own arrogance they have only themselves to blame.

They are ignoring 50% marketshare at the end of the year which has 1/4th of the development costs of the other 50%.

I totally agree with you.

Well, it's a shame, really. =\ "Nintendo iz diztroying dah indahstry!"? No. "Third-party arrogance/stupidity can destroy the industry."? Unfortunately, yes.

Wow, I didn't realize that third-party devs were that down on games that tried to reach outside of the Wii's "casual" demographic.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

People need to stop confusing publishers and developers. Valve (apart from online publishing through Steam), iD and EPIC are not publishers in any sense, instead they are software developers. They shouldn't even be considered in this discussion of who it may be. I'd wager Atari or Midway myself.

I was thinking midway myself as well

Hmm, this was actually posted days ago..
Still, sad state of affairs.

Most people just want to throw out names of companies they dislike because they don't make games for their system. Anybody with the most basic industry knowledge knows Epic, ID and Valve aren't publishers.  What makes it disturbing is this is a game sale site where every time you look at a game it lists the publisher right next to it, including the sales pages that are updated every week.
