does Sonic Chronicles count?
Bioware and Kotor. If Kotor and Jade Empire were XBox exclusives and not ported to the PC, I'd get an Xbox.
I have only played 2, Oblivion, which I really did not like, and Mass Effect, which I am loving. I would be interested in KOTOR, though I was hoping for 3, not an MMO. Anyway, I am mostly playing ME as a TPS with the RPG levelling up
Modded Oblivion was fun, but it wasn't so hot out of the box. KOTOR II was a blast, but it was incomplete and highly buggy. I suppose Baldur's Gate II wins by default.
My personal favourites:
Baldur's Gate
Fallout
Betrayal at Krondor
Ultima VIII: Pagan
Knights of the Old Republic
Lands of Lore: The Throne of Chaos
Gothic
I still have to play Baldur's Gate 2, Neverwinter Nights & Icewind Dale.
Best WRPG I played: Baldur's Gate
Best companies: Origin, Bioware & Black Isle

KOTOR, Morrowind, Mass Effect are 3 great WRPGs I've played.
The answer to your question, however, is Betrayl at Krondor. The most revolutionary (at the time) RPG on the PC.
Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
I don´t want to insult anybody.... who am I kidding.... I want to insult as many people as possible.... anyway... if Baldurs Gate 2 (Or 1&2, its one game really) is not your answer you don´t know what you are talking about and should educate yourself as fast as possible... the storytelling, gameplay, atmosphere and all around excellence are unmatched to this day... if you haven´t played this game or dissagree I will respect that... and with all due respect advise you to chain yourself to the biggest rock you can find, spraypaint "Rock of Shame" on it and carry it with yourself at all times untill you have changed your wicked ways...

Fable is the best WRPG I played but that is not saying much since Fable and Mass Effect were the only WRPG's I ever played

I was originally going to say this too, but it doesn't technically qualify as a WRPG, since the entire game is on-rails.
It's a damn good game, though, and anyone who hasn't played it yet should (it's freeware now, to boot).
