Babyz will dethrone that poser Cooking Guide, then Babyz will rule all of Europe!!!

With the continuing fall of GTA IV in the UK and both versions of GTA IV already being out of the NPD top 10 in the US, I think it's fair for me to say again (I said this some time ago) that GTA IV will not reach its predecessor's LTD sales, and likely will miss it by a fair margin.

This isn't because the hardcore aren't there: they are, as the game debuted at sales higher than those for GTA III, GTA:VC, or GTA:SA. The problem is that the legs have been cut out from beneath the title. In fact, I've noticed thsi trend with a good number of PS3/360 titles: the debuts are up to par compared to previous PS2/Xbox iterations, but the legs aren't there and the title ultimately ends up with lower LTD sales (MGS4 in Japan is a good example of this -- it's debut put it on par with MGS2/MGS3, but now the game will likely end up with 15-20% less sales than its predecessors there).

GTA had been a franchise on the rise; it's sales had gone up and up and up from GTA III to GTA:VC to GTA:SA. It is now likely a franchise in decline, or perhaps even steep decline, with sales of 3+ Million less than the last iteration.

San Andreas sold over 20 million on all platforms so GTAIV will never reach there but maybe next GTA if R* go back to basics.

Sorry guys, been out celebrating tonight. I'll update in the morning, I can't match Lombard when it comes to updating the thread on time.

I think everything has been posted here anyway, just not updated to the first post yet.

wow... during slow spells from new releases the charts get scary in most territorys... Nintendomination...

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

Without new releases Europe is Nintendo territory.

Slow week this week, Lego Indy takes top spot in All Formats chart despite only having #20 & #33 in the Individual Formats top 40.

There's an article in yesterday's Daily Mail about Wii Fit shortages.

Wii Fit shortage predicted for Christmas as fitness computer game flies off the shelves

Shops around Britain are running out of Wii Fit boards as health-conscious Britons have rushed out to buy the latest must-have exercise accessory.

...

waiting lists have been reported to be growing by up to 1,000 people each day. Major online stores including Dixons, HMV and John Lewis are all out of stock.

Even Britain's largest supermarket chain Tesco is out of the product. Its website informs customers: 'Due to high demand for this product, additional stock is not currently expected from supplier until August.'

Now retailers fear their will be few of the consoles left for the Christmas rush. Special websites have been set up to locate stock such as http://wii-consoles.co.uk.

'We're seeing summer stock shortage that will most likely run into the Christmas period,' website founder Darren McKillop warned.

Those ebayers should have fun. Damn i can only imagine if Nintendo hadn't marketed it as a fitness device would it have done what it has done? Im thinkin that helps, but they got their marketing / game approach sorted so well now it aint stoppin, not for a while atleast. Like maybe 1 or 2 years from now.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.
