Forums - Sales - Question.....

Why do many analysts seem to believe that the PS3 is actually going to beat the Wii in lifetime sales?

This sounds too crazy to believe. I have read somewhere that analysts believe that by 2010 the PS3 would have sold 75 million and be ahead of the Wii.

Answers would be highly appreciated!!!

I apologize if this or something similar have already been posted.

Those that still believe this have the idea that Wii sales will not follow the normal sales curve of a product and will level off very early. While the PS3's will have a sudden positive change in its sales curve, again completely against normal behavior, and thus you have a PS3 ahead of Wii in a couple years.

Anyone with a basic understanding of trends and takes time to look through the history of consoles sales on this site alone can easily see that the above scenario has an infinitely small chance of actually happening.

Because they can make up whatever they want, change it when it doesn't happen and still get paid!!

a lot actually before the 7th gen begun.

edit: whoops I thought you said how many...

Analysts feel the Wii is a fad and once the PS3 is priced in the casual range sales will increase.

I will start to take them seriously when I see a new Wii on the shelf.

Thanks for the input, Jeff.
