Forums - Nintendo - Miyamoto: E3 is no longer for showing core games

My take on casual gamers is a bit different than what the norm might be considered. Casual gamers to me are the guys who show 0 interest on doing any form of research on any sort of gaming platform. They're the guys that hear about a game from a friend, see it at a party, go to a store and see someone playing it... etc etc etc. They don't pick up gaming magazines, they don't search for it on the internet... I've NEVER seen it... My step mom started playing bejeweled, and she started playing it because she heard from a friend who heard from a friend who had it on they're cell phone >_>; None of these people know what E3 is. None of these people heard about it from the newspaper or some media outlet, if it says video games, they almost always skip over it unless they're looking for something for they're children.

"Casual" games don't need a media outlet to show attendee's, that's not how the news spreads. I get the newspaper reads, but are commercial's less effective? If anything I think these event's should be geared towards us "core" gamers, and mas market adds in newspapers and television should be geared towards the casuals.

Dosen't it good for us?

Miyamoto use E3 to show casual game(and hardcore casual game, maybe?).And leave space for 3rd party to show there core game(as we already seen such as The Conduit).

We happy ,3rd party happy and Nintendo happy. :D

@Madanial Your one of the few that was happy with Nintendo's presentation :/ I no so sure I'd put "we're" in the happy department.

Unless it's somethin big and everyone's all like "told ya so".

@Chronotrigger: (and @topic) Since E3 isn't expo anymore, just a press event, you're not going to meet gamers there anymore, so there's no sense in announcing "gamers games" in the event anymore. When E3 has grown so "big", that even the mainstream media picks it up (unlike other shows/conferences around the world), it's the only place where you are able to get free mainstream advertizing. When the gaming press is in every games related event. For example, no matter how small event it is, if you announce a waited game, it takes maximum of 24 hours after the announcement has been made, that it's in every gaming site around the world. When looking at mainstream media in comparision, the best way to get an article to non-gaming media, is to pay them to make an article (which is quite common).
