Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft: 'Stealing Playstation franchises is very important to us'

This whole thread has troll-bait all over it. Sigh.

Current-gen game collection uploaded on the profile, full of win and good games; also most of my PC games. Lucasfilm Games/LucasArts 1982-2008 (Requiescat In Pace).

Interesting read. However, don't blame MS for so called "stealing". Sony has been losing so much money on the hardware end that they have not been able to purchase exclusive rights to some games. Microsoft actually has a good strategy here. For every former PS exclusive they make multi-platform it's less PS3's sold. That is why it has been so hard for Sony to catch up in NA. Sony needs to see if they can lock up a few 3rd party exclusives like EDIT: MGS4 that would move PS3's. If a game comes out multiplat and you already have a 360 why would you need to purchase a PS3?

Don't blame MS, this is Sony's problem for not locking up these games exclusively. EDIT: If MGS4 is announced for the 360 I bet PS3 sales drop as 360 owners that were thinking about purchasing a PS3 won't.

This is all Sony's fault and we know it people, they were arrogant and the PS3 is still very expensive for most console gamers...

Its not so different in NA. The PS3 is $399 while the Xbox is $349

Stop fuelling the misconception about the PS3 being overpriced.

The thing is that none of these games were ever locked up in the first place. 3rd parties chose the PS family because of their userbase and the competition was so pathetic that in many cases it wasn't even worth porting. Sony didn't pay for these things. I remember that this was the whistle Kutaragi used to blow all the time : "WE DON'T PAY FOR EXCLUSIVES".

In the 3rd iteration of the PS, costs have risen and the userbase is the smallest...what gives? When they were making profits, Sony didn't pay for exclusives, are they supposed to start paying now that they are billions in losses? Honestly as a PS fan, I'd prefer if Sony used their money do develop new IPs themselves while the 3rd party games go multi. Its not like ps fans don't get to play them so whats the fuss?

"WAR is a racket. It always has been.

It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives"---Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler

Theyre such total heartless, emotionless, corporate fat barstard capitalist pricks. Money will only buy so much talent. Whats left is nothing and their failures online only cement the fact that even with 6 billion / million per annum in R & D they still can't take risks with anything.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

1UP: It's interesting to see that you're still promoting the exclusive content side of things. The more exclusives Sony sees go multi-platform, the more they de-emphasize the importance of exclusive content.

SK: [Laughs] There was no mention of Final Fantasy, I noticed, in their press conference today.

I lulzed!

I lol'd again when they laughed at Ninty's conference.

What a great interview!
