On topic: Gears could do 8 million but it won't get there by doing 3 million in "Others". No Xbox game has ever got close to 3 million with Halo 3 (I believe) the only game to sell more than 2 million copies in that region.

We almost got rid of the bashers but since the FF13 megaton landed they are all back here trying to reaffirm themselves in their choices. Sometimes the MS forum feels like it's group therapy for these guys.

The funny thing is, gears of war isn't even an avesome game. I played it through on the pc and i was prepared for a great game, because it got so good scores. The funny thing is that playing the game felt like homework or something. It wasn't that good and interesting. It's max a 7 out of 10 game, my friend played 2 levels of it and got tired of it :D. 8 million no way.

Actually it is more important that MGS4 or Halo for a different reason. It is competing head on with both Resistance 2 mainly and to a slightly lesser extent KZ2 which is released later. Its one vs two and it has to hold its own against both.

Microsoft actually needs Gears 2 to be an honest 93-4%+ metacritic game.

But in terms of sales - yes it could sell craploads if you consider the number of people who have played the game as rentals, used copies etc on top of the number that bought it new at retail. So yes, this could be the next Halo 3 - particularly in the U.S.

Gears 2 vs Resistance 2. NOT GONNA BUY GEARS 2, I will buy resistance 2 and it's making me think I should buy the first one when it becomes a Greatist Hit.

The 360 couldn't even outsell the PS2 last year and the PS3 has outsold the 360 for 8 months in a row now.

I think that the FPS market is tapped and that Gears will sell very very few console, but will reach your stated numbers. I also don't think Resistance 2 will do much better than the original, since the 360 has most of the FPS market and has enough FPS games still coming out that 360 fans arn't going to jump ship.
I think Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts could be a big system seller if properly advetsied along kameo and Viva ect

outsell the ps3 worldwide q3/q4? wow, the last time ps3 was outsold by 360(WW) was like in october, and that was when, ahh let me put it in xbox fanboy terms: PS3 has no games! and now they do and will have even more, so ps3 outsells 360 everywhere later this year, by how much i dont know.
