A few threads to call back on the carpet:

@Riachu
SO isn't niche....
SO won't go to 360 exclusively...count on that
Well that is your opinion and that is fine. But FF is certainly the most important RPG of them all.
I disagree completely with the 360 being the home console for RPG's. The Wii will have far, far, far more RPG's by the end of the generation (biggest Japan sales) and the PS3 will have the bigger name RPG's (FF, SO etc). If you are going to buy only one console this generation for RPG's, it should be the Wii because it will have the most, or a PS3 because you are a Final Fantasy addict.
Top 5 PS3 games Xbox 360 Fanboys Wish They Had
5. Final Fantasy XIII
Although the 360 does have Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey, both of which come directly from the man behind FF himself, there really isn’t a JRPG to be found on the 360 that comes anywhere close to matching Final Fantasy. It’s even quite possible that no other JRPG will ever out do this longstanding franchise. To have the next chapter appear on the 360 would be a delight for any owner, and even the ones that don’t enjoy RPG’s would revel in their counterparts’ anguish of losing one of Sony’s most important exclusives. Yes, the 360 did receive Final Fantasy XI, but everyone knows how MMO games usually pan out on Microsoft’s console. We’re sure that most 360 gamers are still praying for the true arrival of this franchise, rather some shotty port of a lesser entry in the series.
I bet FFXIII outsells all the exclusive JRPG's on the 360 put together.
you say 360 rpg genre locked until 2010? how do you know that for sure? im afraid to break the news to you that you have fallen into that "it will always be like that syndrome" trap. in where you have made yourself belive that 360 will always and always be ahead no matter what. when ps3 will have surged ahead or at least overtaken 360, with a solid install base in japan do you not think developers will work on rpg`s for ps3.
the games i mentioned will arrive on ps3 and will sell more copies on ps3 by then, as far as im concerned 360 only has 1 future exclusive in infinite discovery which will be a good game but its no final fantasy.
final fantasy 13
final fantasy versus
valkyre chronicles
white knight story
disgea
those above games are a far more worth than the 3 exclusives on 360 infinite discovery, blue dragon & lost oddesee the rest will be multiplat from initial list.
As this is a great loss for the ps3...i must say this.... GET REAL...... sony still has lots of amazing games and not one of these games can compare to "final Fantasy 13" and 13 Vs. Sony is not at all worried by this and i bet has a couple o plans on this.. plus all of these games will be coming to the ps3 sooner or later..they will flop on the 360 those who think other wise are fooling themselves.....
Games from SQUARE:
2009 January 31st - FFXIII on PS3.
2009 Summer - FFXIIIv on PS3.
2009 Autumn - KH3 on PS3.
4 JRPGs ONLY from SQUARE in ONE year, isn`t that too much??? Then when to release SO4 on PS3? Right.
2010 January - SO4 on PS3.
Not to mention, that MMORPG based on FFXIII must be released during 2009-2010 also on PS3.
/\ Above reference is to XIII not mattering (as stated by some Sony fans) that it's not coming for quite some time.
SO4 is coming to the PS3 ,and probably at the same date as the X360.If it wasnt or was coming later MS would have marketed it the in the event.
About the Last Remnant it can be two things ....one that MS has paid big time to have it first ,something understatable that it has done multiple times this generaton.Or it could be that being an UE3 development the 360 developing progress is somewhat ahead and they can secure a winter launch while for the PS3 version we will have to wait until january or february of 2009.
Its a bit infuriating whats happening ,MS is handing down lots of money to get these games and Sony ,who could have a serious staple in that genre ,is doing nothing.THey just believed that because the 360 being dead in Japan and their relationships with most japanese developers they could just let it be and the support would flow to the PS3.But MS is making proof that japanese developers are as greedy as anyone else and if they can have their games subsidized by MS just to have a 360 version or that version launching before they are eager to sign in the line.At least Sony has managed to keep both Final Fantasy games.
Sony doesnt have the kind of money to throw around as MS does ,but they will have to do something. They must launch White Knight Chronicles before the end of the year ,secure some exclusives and get as second party some japanese studios....and if they have to spend some money doing this so be it.
@trestres, ALL these games are coming to Japan in 2008.
Iif you have no problems with Japan language, then here you are:
6 jrpg games, well 2 tactical and other 4 are rpgs. =)
I just don`t know when will be USA releases, that`s it.
And you never know when FFXIII is coming. =]
Release of FFXIII in 2008 would >>>>>>>>> all what x360 has in 2008.
(Obviously, the thread would be never-ending if I kept using Crazzyman quotes).
I gathered a few of these quotes made by Playstation 3 owners on the Microsoft forums here at VGC to call out some statements that they've made. In 2-3 months, we've gone from merely having Infinite Undiscovery and a multi-platform The Last Remnant, to Tales of Verspria exclusivity, The Last Remnant time exclusivity, Star Ocean 4 exclusivity, Final Fantasy XIII on the 360, and so on.
So lets re-evaluate. 2 months ago, without Star Ocean 4 on 360, nor XIII many argued that the PS3 would eventually eclipse the X360's lineup of Japanese RPGs. The WRPG argument never came about because most agreed the X360 was the home of choice for said games.
So what about now? Does the argument from those users still exist? What say you, Xbox 360 owners?
Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
