Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo to sell Wii Sports Resort for $49.99?

I didn't expect a revision to motion control until next generation. And I really feel that if Nintendo had waited to reveal MotionPlus until their conference that the Nintendo conference would have been viewed a bit differently.

I also think that Nintendo's preemptive strike caused Microsoft/Sony to abandon their motion control reveals. I'd expect them to not announce theirs until they can acheive 1:1 with theirs.

The scary part: that may be by this holiday season, while Nintendo's doesn't release until next Spring.

There is still no proof that MS and Sony are working on these controllers, Also I cant see them improving on what they have been doing and releasing (With games) before the year is out unless they already have a working 1:1 unit.

If there just making or changing it now there wont be a chance, and if they already made one then its good for them but they should really show it soon to build hype before launch.

hey snap...have you ever thought of posting info about something other than Nintendo.

You're starting to smell like a troll.

Starting to smell? nah, he is a troll, he don't start a thread for other porpuses than bashing nintendo, "arm and leg??" sorry, but $50 for a demo and a peripheral that allow you to do something that cannot be made by other console is a nice deal...

"An arm and a leg"? I'd say that's pretty cheap, seeing as Wii Sports 1 alone in Japan cost $50. Consider that the 1:1 motion attachment would cost at least $20 alone, so you're only paying $30 (or less) for Wii Sports 2.

Also, if you're not excited at the prospect of another Wii Sports compilation, then you're probably a bitter shut-in who doesn't have any friends to play with.

I think it would be very foolish of Nintendo to charge so much for it.  They need to find a way to ensure almost every Wii owner gets their hands on this if they want it to be more than a gimmick or a device simply for use with Beach Resort.  The Wii remote is already a very expensive device.  You can't seriously be suggesting they charge $20 on top for this.  What if you want 4 of these things.

Let me point out to you how much it would cost in the UK to indicate how ridiculous it would be to charge anything more than a notional amount (about $5) for this.  3 additional Wii remotes cost me £90 (£30 each), plus £45 for 3 nunchucks (£15 each) plus £60 for 4 1:1 attachments ( I am assuming that if it cost about $20 in US it would be at least £15 in UK but probably even more).  So to have a full complement of controllers (which I would have to have other wise you could accuse me of being a bitter shut-in who doesn't have any friends to play with) I would have spent at least £195.  I would have been wiser to buy Wii Play and 2 extra Wii Remotes than buying 3 Wii remotes so it actually comes to £200.  All of a sudden my cheap console which I paid £180 doesn't look so cheap anymore.  And all I have in terms of games after spending £380 is Wii Sports and Wii Play.

Also I don't see the logic of bundling this with a multi player mini-game.  Are they going to bundle 4 of the attachments with the game?  Otherwise you are left with Player 1 having 1 to 1 and Player 2, 3 and 4 being stuck in the past.  I don't think they will enjoy the game very much that way (if you can even play the game like that).

And no I am not excited in the least bit at another Wii Sports compilation.  I already have Wii Sports, Wii Play, Mario & Sonic, Mario Kart, Smash Bros.  I don't need another game that is fun to play with friends and family.

The attachment on its own is probably $30, as is the WiiSpeak by itself, so the game is only $20. Granted, Wii Play was only $10 when you removed the Wiimote.

Personally, I think it should be no more than $30 for the whole thing.

@Garcian Smith - we may be "bitter shut-in" as you put it, but at least we don't pay full price for tech demos.

Wii Sports = $0-$10
Wii Play = $10
Wii Fit = $0-$10
Link's Crossbow Training = $0-$10

and now Wii Sports Resort (with a wonderful Frisbee game) = $20-30? F-THAT!

PS - A bitter shut-in I am definitely not. A person who doesn't waste money, I am. I bet you bought carnival games.

Isn't it going to have like 3-4 times the games of wii sports?

Wii Sports isn't the kind of game that should have a sequel.

As turned off as I was by Nintendo's E3 performance, I will gladly purchase this bundle. 1:1 motion is a big deal, to me. It should've been standard with the Wii in 2006, but the tech wasn't ready yet. It's here now, and I can't wait to give it a try!

Apparently it was ready but they've only just figured out how to implement it without breaching patents and getting sued. Either way it's good news that it's coming and I'll definitely buy it once the price comes down a bit.

Why not?? Is probably the most played game of the current gen and a big part of the Wii success. They are not just making another set of mini-game, they are expanding the experience with 1:1 thanks to the motion plus...

On Wii Sports: Day at the Beach, wtf does fencing have to do with beach activities? =)

As for programming, I wonder if it's simple as sending a function out to detect the positioning of the wii remote. If so, then its probably a simple process, no different than programming for a mouse, just add an XYZ plane in to track its location. More games will probably require an initial calibration.

Lol, yeah, I forgot that Nintendo is destroying the industry with all this fun and causal appealing...
