Last year Sony won E3 and they experienced a large shift in momentum (which was also because of the 40GB PS3) in the second half of 2007.

Wait, what? Huh? Are we following the same industry here? Sony's July, August, September, and October sales for the PS3 were all dismal last year. (Go back and look at our archived charts if you don't believe me.) The sales picked up in November for two reasons: there was a major price cut, and it was the holidays. PS3 sales have been better in 2008 due to the greater viability of the Blu-Ray format, and a much stronger library of games - especially Grand Theft Auto and Metal Gear Solid.
None of this had *ANYTHING* to do with last year's E3. In fact, most of the games that Sony demonstrated there have either not been released yet (e.g. Little Big Planet, Home) or released to underwhelming sales (Warhawk, Heavenly Sword, Ratchet, etc.) The entire premise of this thread makes no sense whatsoever because the initial assumption is flawed. Not to mention, it also assumes several other dubious points:
- Sony "won" E3 last year
- Microsoft "won" E3 this year.
- Apparently Nintendo doesn't exist in this market
With all due respect, this whole thread is little more than fanboy chest-beating on all sides. E3 rarely has any noticeable effect on sales. Expect the market to look... pretty much the same it does right now.
