Microsoft didn't win anything.
By the time FFXIII is released in the US/EU, the generation will be drawing to a close. The hardware boost will last all of a few weeks ala GTAIV, and even then, the PS3 version will sell more copies due to Europe and Japan plus the fact that gape in LTD hardware sales will be smaller or even have the PS3 slightly ahead, and it will probably get the bigger hardware boost also due to Europe and Japan. A game that's not coming out for two years is not going to cause anyone to buy a 360.
E3 is not going to cause a hardware boost either considering that the average person doesn't even know what E3 is, let alone what happened there.
