Two important points about the FFXIII anouncement.

A. Microsoft WILL dominate the RPG genre, so anyone with at least one eye on RPGs/JRPGs will seriously consider making their first or second console an Xbox360.

B. One of the main criticisms with the Xbox360 is that many of the games are on the PC and because many PC fans buy consoles only for games like JRPGs/and other genres not supported well by the PC it makes it a very viable 2nd platform ahead of the PS3 if you are considering JRPG support.

==> except Japanese people will not have FFXIII on Xbox360
and
Last remananat is multiplateform
So4 may become multiplateform

(just look Eternel Sonata)

when u consider people always focused on main serie (FFXIII or Dragon quest) u understand it is pretty much balanced between the 2 console.

I was talking about Europe mostly actually and you forget that Microsoft owns Mistwalker and they have the ability to really shake things up with their Cryon game and others they may produce between now and infinity.

Furthermore, a TRUE JRPG fan would also purchase other JRPG games besides those two and dragon quest doesn't sell that well outside of Japan IIRC.

The Xbox360 also has the first really good JRPG in Lost Odyssey so the fans of the genre have at least one great game to get before they sink their teeth into the offerings later this year.

Shooters do not pull in these people as easily, and it will be interesting to see the reaction in Europe where theres both a high PC gamer penetration and less cultural emphasis on the shooter genre.

If I had to sell one of my consoles now, I would push the PS3 out the door before the Xbox360 even though im a HUGE pc fan with a fast computer because of the JRPG dominance.

==> it is your point, we will see how consumers will react.

Europe is the best place to find out. They aren't experiencing a price cut so ALL ELSE REMAINING EQUAL, an important economic concept we can see the aftereffects of this E3 better than anywhere else in the world.

Ummm... Microsoft does not own Mistwalker. Who ever told you that?

They only published LO and BD. Yes, they are funded by Microsoft, but they are free to make games on whatever console/handheld they wish.

I am looking for an article that proves what you just said, only thing I find it that MS is publishing some of it's games.

Link please?

I think Starcraft nailed it on the nail

What E3 conference crashed Neogaf and Vgchartz??

It wasn't Nintendo's or Sony's... Its a clear sign that MS's conference knocked the world hardcore gaming community upside down.

If your not a hardcore gamer chances are you won't even know what E3 is .

Exactly. So to win E3 you only need to win the perceptions of the hardcore gaming crowd..........

Opinion.

Not fact.

In the world of E3 "wins" and "losses" everything is opinion. Hell its like that in all of video games, otherwise why have forums? It just so happens that in this case overwhelming majority opinion is that MS won E3, regardless of whether this was due to one announcement.

What "overwhelming" majority?

Everyone not a sony fanboy? If you don't dislike JRPGs it seems silly to think MS didn't win.

I mean Sony didn't announce anything we didn't know about outside of MAG.

Edge = Sony Fanboy?

Edge = Shooter fanboys.

Regardless if your using the press as your example. Then Sony didn't win E3 last year.

Still waiting for your opinion on what = E3 win.

The Yahoo guy didn't even know that God of War 3 was already announced... or DC universe.  He was just clueless.

What's that got to do with anything? We're not disputing last years E3, the topic is this years E3.

What's yours? Mine is: 'the more interesting exclusive surprise games announced, the better.'

You can see my posts in both pre-E3 sections for Microsoft and Sony. I was looking for games.

What was it, in your opinion, that gave Microsoft the win? A port for a JRPG?

Perhaps if you were a JRPG fan, but the fact is: most gamers aren't.

ms won because they announced a multiplatform game??? that is going to be launched on the ps3 first and sony will see the boost of hardware?????

last time i checked the other 88 minutes were nothing special, but i wouldnt really know, because i was asleep

Considering Nintendo just showed us 1:1 sword fighting, no, Microsoft will get nothing out of this.

FF's audience are Sony fans. Microsoft will gain very little from this.

And lastly, did you SEE NINTENDO SHOW OFF THE WII MOTION? Who won the show? (Hint: Not Microsoft.) Gaming has just been changed, forever.

In Japan only the rest of the world the multiplayer game will be release on both platforms at the same time.  It is true this isnt really a boost for the 360, but a drop for the PS3.  We have heard for years that the PS3 will have a huge bump in sales with FFXIII comes out.  Dont think so.

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

ps3 will have a huge bump, it would of been bigger of course, theres no denying that. where ff matters is japan, it sells the most in japan, and sony will sell ps3's there no matter what because of it.

first, i read, "microsoft won this e3." i laughed.
then i read, "sony won last years e3," and yet again, i laughed.

in my opionion, this is what happened this E3.

Microsoft- Little new. Nothing good, nothing bad. Neutral. Made fools out of themselves with the statement "we have sold more 360s than Wiis and PS3s combined."
Nintendo- A few new things, with more to be announced today. Some special things, some things that piss people off. Neutral.
Sony- Got boned in the butt. Nothing new, and with FFXIII on the 360 now, Sony is really going downhill.

I feel bad now, cause I bought a PS3 for MGS4 and FFXIII. I guess now I bought it just for MGS4.

DJmeister was. He's claiming Sony won both this year and last year and is trying to use two divergent reasons to prove it.

Mine is "The biggest unknown game announced wins it." or barring a big announcement "Just biggest game." or a collection of games.

Which was FF13 on the 360. It was so big and so unannounced that it shut websites down. It was big news for everybody.

It was the biggest game on the PS3's lineup. FF13 is STILL The biggest game in PS3s lineup. It's also now the biggest game on the 360's lineup.

MAG is like... waaay down the list. Below FF13, Below Resistance, Killzone, COD, Fallout, Infamous, Borderlands, LBP... below a lot.

On a scale of 1-20... 360 gained an 11 hype game. Sony gained a 6-7 hype game. Exclusivity is meaningless.

FF13 was bigger then anything showed by a lot.

Final Fantays sells to a LOT more then the JRPG fans.  Infact most RPG fans are like me... and buy them half heartidly hoping they're good again.

The series sells 5 million Minium.  It's bigger then any other game Sony introduced by a lot.
