Forums - Gaming - Quality over Quantity - PSN or LIVE (who has the better downloadable games)

Good list and stats mrstickball..... and it didn't even include great games for xbla like streets of rage 2, golden axe and the awesome ultimate mortal kombat 3

even if you do include ps3 games on psn like warhawk and gran turismo the 360 easily counters with its xbox origionals titles available, games like halo, fable and stubbs the zombie: rebel without a pulse

PSN fans are listing games like Warhawk and GT5P while X360 fans aren't listing XBOs? Hmm. Odd

We could include those :)

Well maybe because if you list the 12 or so XBOs they will return with alot more PS1 titles?

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

Id only listen to Ps360 owners obviously 360 and Ps3 only owners will say there console has the better games....

Very few of those exist, and the ones that do might not be playing XBLA/PSN games :)

If we're talking just XBLA and PSN games that aren't mega-downloads available on discs for their respective system, using GameRankings:

Xbox 360 Ranking Playstation 3 Ranking
Rez HD 90.256% Super Stardust HD 85.158%
Symphony of the Night 89.783% Pixeljunk Monsters 83.788%
Puzzle Quest: CotW 88.038% Everyday Shooter 82.909%
Geometry Wars 87.600% Ecochrome 81.615%
Ikaruga 87.107% Locoroco Rocoreco 77.300%
Bomberman Live 85.419% Calling All Cars! 77.263%
Super Puzzle Fighter 2 HD Remix 84.250% fl0w 70.950%
N+ 83.514% PAIN 71.149%
Pacman C.E. 83.125% High Velocity Bowling 69.308%
Catan 82.852% Commandos 3 66.562%
Uno 81.591% Super Puzzle Fighter HD Remix 84.250%
Marble Blast Ultra 80.857% Symphony of the Night 89.783%
Prince of Persia Classic 80.840%
Cloning Clyde 80.735%
Sensible World of Soccer 80.214%
Roogoo 80.000%
Doom 79.778%
Undertow 79.400%

Thats most of the list. If someone would like to copy and re-post with more pertinent PSN games, feel free to. Issue is there are very few PSN games I can find viable rankings for at the moment. So PSN fans, feel free to post 'em.

I guess it depends on what you want: PSN has more true exclusives like ecochrome, PJM, SSHD, EDS, and Calling all Cars. However, XBLA has far more high-quality games if your looking into HD ports of hard-to-get games like Rez, Ikaruga, Soul Calibur, and has a few great exclusives like Bomberman, Pacman CE, and N+

I would argue that the X360 library is quite a bit better due to the depth of the library (140 games, Arcade only), but I haven't played enough PSN games to make a great comparison.

I am a PS3/360 owner but people will always be biased.

Just look to your lists.  It is like you said the best ones are ports on XBL..It is quite lame to compare them because you know PS3 owners will list then the PS ONE games on PSN and etc;...

I am not going to answer who has the best line up in my eyes but one thing that took my attention is though that Sony is putting a lot of effort in their PSN games.  Games like R&C Quest for booty are a good example of that..

In fact is there a XBL game who is in 3D and is worth to buy?  So far I only saw old games (PS I didn't checked all XBL games it is something I really would like to know).

Well I enjoy both though (look to my gamercard and you see I played REZ HD and Doom today and talking about Doom is it me or is that game unplayable online?).

most of live arcade games are only retro genre games. the fact that there is limitations on the size of an arcade game makes 0 sense to me cause there is no size limit on demos. whats worth more to MS a free demo or a arcade game sale. I just dont feel you get your moneys worth with live arcade games.

i go with the PSN-

Pain
Novastrike
Super Stardust HD
Calling all Cars
GT5P
Warhawk
Flow
High Velocity Bowling
Locoroco
PixelJunk Monsters

but i do like some games i've seen from XBLA-

Bomberman
Geometry Wars
Undertow
There were a few more, but i don't remember the names

XBLA, but barely.

PSN has some retail quality games (and retail games like warhawk, and tekken DR)
But, xbox has soooo many games, and I think people are forgetting The upcoming community developed games that are upcoming (the dishwasher FTW) Some will even be free!

Well here's what I gotta say:

Quantity: XBLA (well, obviously, although some is shovelware)

Overall quality: PSN (well, xbla doesn't have alot of retail quality games, but, all have a cheap pricetag) (the reason for this is the size limit)

Varitety: XBLA (from Aegis wing to zuma) (admitting, though, that this is the same as quantity basically.)

Bang for your buck: XBLA (we get trials, so you know whats good firsthand!, and achievements)(There is alot of shovelare though, it's why we need them)

Non-Game Stores: XBLA (video marketplace, upcoming netflix, and themes and pics, soon, more stores)

Upcoming games: XBLA (OH COME ON, A new south park game... that is hyped by MS, a direct sequel to galaga, new portal, new Geo wars..... community games. XBLA has a line-up 10x bigger than the psn, and this year, most of it all looks to be quality)

I know it looks bad, but I think psn is barely losing right now. Soon, it will be massacred though.

And that's the only thing I need is *this*. I don't need this or this. Just this PS4... And this gaming PC. - The PS4 and the Gaming PC and that's all I need... And this Xbox 360. - The PS4, the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360, and that's all I need... And these PS3's. - The PS4, and these PS3's, and the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360... And this Nintendo DS. - The PS4, this Xbox 360, and the Gaming PC, and the PS3's, and that's all *I* need. And that's *all* I need too. I don't need one other thing, not one... I need this. - The Gaming PC and PS4, and Xbox 360, and thePS3's . Well what are you looking at? What do you think I'm some kind of a jerk or something! - And this. That's all I need.

Obligatory dick measuring Gaming Laptop Specs: Sager NP8270-GTX: 17.3" FULL HD (1920X1080) LED Matte LC, nVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M, Intel Core i7-4700MQ, 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3, 750GB SATA II 3GB/s 7,200 RPM Hard Drive

This is true. The XNA Community Games deal has massive potential. I was really impressed by the demos they put out. Especially Dishwasher!

Hmm. Good 3d, and/or unique X360 games:

Penny Arcade Adventures

Marble Blast Ultra

Arkadian Warriors

Golf: TiU

Outpost Kaloki X

Undertow (2d, but very good 16 player shooter, IMO)

Worms HD (")

I won't lie, the 50mb limit, and subsequent 150mb limit has hurt XBLA a bit when it comes to the larger-scale games. There are TONS coming down the pipeline in the next few weeks and months that will change quite a bit of what XBLA has in terms of major downloadable arcade games, but I'll stick with the certain ones.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Not to mention PS3 games are generally better than those old games.

This arguement is pointless, though. Not many of us have played all of the games, so it's hard to judge. I only own PS3 and Wii but I haven't even been able to play all the downloadable games from those 2.

I think the lack of a space limit favors PS3, and the fact that you can share most game purchases with up to 4 other people (making Rock Band songs, Stardust, etc cheaper). However, every Xbox owner is going to say Live is better.

stickball: Rez (the highest rated Live game) was a PS2 game, so technically that works on PS3, too =)

hmmm.... hard to chose one :(
