why not just pull out your wallet and say "take as much as you want from me, you are here to make money, we understand"

QFT, I stuck with Sony because they make the kind of games that I want to play, and I always feel like they have put me first.  Sticking with a company for other reasons is what turns people into fanboys.

You stuck with Sony for first-party games? You are a brave soul...

I've seen across many sites Nintendo fans screaming and moaning how Nintendo had a terrible E3 conference and that they've forsaken the hardcore. I think people need to understand that, while E3 is very much for the excitement of gamers and showing off new games, it's also a business event, and a media briefing. At least in the USA, Nintendo is a publicly traded company that has investors that have put their own money in Nintendo in the hopes of making a profit. What I'm getting at is that Nintendo has to answer to their investors, and they have a responsibility to demonstrate that their business model is profitable. In this aspect Nintendo surely succeeded with their media briefing.

As a gamer I was just as disappointed as everyone else, but you can't have tunnel vision and think everyone is expecting the same things out of Nintendo as you. Many were looking to see a continued, profitable business model, and Nintendo delivered. Besides, we all know there is more E3, and it's very possible some games could be announced, like how SSBB was announced the day after their briefing.

Hes spot on, Its a business briefing obviously. Do you all think game designers make sequels because they want to? I think Nintendo are commendable for consistently doing something different with their ip's despite being a business. I know i still treat Nintendo differently because of this, and my childhood.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

While I understand your point you are forgetting that those investors like a good show as the next guy. Nintendo's show thus far was not great. They needed some more flash and jazz to excite the crowd, gamers, and also investors.

I posted this in an other thread:

I really do not understand what all the Nintendo fanboys (well other then me) are so pissed about?? Wasn't last year exactly the same?? Still we got SMG, SSBB, Metroid, MK and a few other not so big Nintendo core titles. You are all clearly overreacting, you all just were set upped to be disappointed. Of course I also was a little bit, but that was because I hoped they had some Core stuff to show not because I thought they would.

Yay, Nintendo fucked us over, but don't worry! They're still making moneyz!
Ridiculous thread.

How did they fucked us over??? Somebody please explain to me how a bad conference fucks me over????

Yea thats right. We got some wicked fukn games. Seriously if PS or MS had 4 super succesfull titles like SMG,Met.,SB,MK we would not hear the end of that shit, plus sequels would be chopped, cut, spliced and spat out within a year. Patience is not popular but damn it, don't tell me waiting 10 years for Mario Galaxy was a problem.

I completely agree. I am sure that Nintendo will deliver on good games I will be interested in (they seem to really like my money right now), but that doesn't make up for them putting on a dry business meeting for the countless sites they know are streaming to their more rabid fans.
