shams said: How are you measuring "won"? By the quantity of "hardcore" game footage shown? Then, sure - Ninty lost easily. But in terms of "future potential", or "changing trends" - Sony did nothing IMO.
I guess it does depend what people are looking for in a footnote.
I agree that the hardcore will be VERY disappointed with the Ninty conference, and for good reason. But I'm confident enough that those games will be shown anyway - at the right time, and before they get released. |
For the games industry, announcing new games is a pretty major player in "future potential", in my opinion.
Call me crazy, but I think Sony actually did, far and away, the best job of this. I don't see how you can claim Sony "did nothing" with regards to "future potential". in this regard, or how the other two presentations came even close. Both Nintendo and MS announced products that, they hope, will further their expeditions into "casual gaming", where Sony did took a "your living room" approach, like they always have. Microsoft's venture into Nintendo's turf (and Sony's, with Lips) seemed... weak. Nintendo's announcements seemed like they are at least continuing on course, and not flailing, like MS appears to be (suggesting financial trouble in the future, if their current course does not change, which frankly makes sense).
Criticize Sony for staying on course with tactics which have succeeded for years, and Nintendo for keeping on with tactics that they have innovated and proven to work, but I'm going to label MS as the only one who looked to be in trouble.
