Forums - Nintendo - Rate Nintendo's E3 Presentation

I thought their presentation was fine, Nintendo simply wasn't targeting the vocal hardcore gamer. I knew even before I checked online that pretty much the whole Internet would detest the presentation, and that the weeks ahead would be full of "Nintendo is destroying gaming!" rants. And... yeah, that's pretty much what I found. :)

What we're going to see is yet another demonstration of how the "hardcore" Internet denizens are ultimately a minor player in the gaming industry. This week, every major gaming website/blog will declare Nintendo the "loser" at E3, and write many many stories about how the Wii is slipping, and Microsoft/Sony are going to catch up. Everyone will then be mystified when the Wii continues to outsell its competitors exactly as before. Wii Music and Wii Sports 2 will both sell vastly more copies than any Kid Icarus or Pikmin game would do!

I don't even need to read the news, the reactions are so predictable it's just funny.

I'm with you on your main thesis, but did you actually see the conference? The presentation was terrible, painful even. They showed incredibly few games (which are my motivation for watching in the first place), and instead spent over half the time lecturing about how well they're doing in the marketplace. Don't get me wrong, there were some good things there (Wii swordfighting! Voice Chat! Animal Crossing! Yay!), but it certainly wasn't well executed. It also failed to live up to Reggie's promises pre-E3 (although I'm all but certain that they'll be showing more stuff as the week goes on).

I've been a Nintendo fan all my life...and this is the frist time I really really wanted to own another console...(no prize for guessing wich one...)

Same here... its just... wow...

I've never bought a non-Nintendo system... but looks likes its time to save up for a 360...

Eh, they'll bring in more stuff later, like they did last year. Although I'll concede that their conference didn't exactly get me hyped.

I thought it was really poor.Nintendo showed some casual games ,a GTA spin off for the DS and that was it.The most core title announced was Animal Crossing.

Nintendo seemed very pleased on how the industry is turning out for them.Cheap (for them)developments ,cheap (for them ) hardware ,monster sales.....zero quality and very low production values but monster revenue.

The rating .....some 3/10 for the Wii.And 5/10 for the DS.

8/10. Nintendo disrupting E3 again. Mainstream media will love it, "gamer" media will hate it.

Really? Just because they didnt announce anything really new, doesnt mean that they have nothing coming. All of the games that were going to come out before, are still going to. And all of the franchises that we wanted them to announce, will eventually be announced, just not at E3.

This is just another testament to how far E3's importance has fallen.

We all knew this show was about Bridge titles, but expected at least one core game.... Animal Crossing? mehhh

Personally, the best thing for me was Satoru Iwata's speech, it's very interesting to hear this man, everything he says becomes reality years later. He says the future is about "creation" in games, Wii Music is aiming that direction, and interestingly the Movie Game stuff of Microsoft is very similar.

However. as a gamer I was extremely dissapointed, 5/10

No bad but a little to casual focused 5/10

I feel very dumb toward Nintendo after see the worst E3 conference of all time,LAME 1.5/10 -_-

Where're the games that everyone was waiting for?

It's amazing what one big announcement can do for a conference. Unfortunately, Nintendo didn't have one. Still, the WiiMotion was nice and Wii Talk is a step in the right direction.

6/10

For a conference i'd rate it a 8/10.

For an E3 i'd give it a 2/10. That's mainly for AC and voice chat.
