Right now I'm looking at a report of 2,116 users, but it ramped up from about 1,000 over the past 15 minutes or so. Where'd so many people come from so quickly?

EDIT: up to 2,305 now. The site completely died at one point, but now is just running slow for me.

I wonder if it has to do more with member count that total user count.
The member count was around 200 and the total user was about 2.5k.

It was slow.

Now the member count is around 120 and the total user is about 2k.

It is normal.

What extra queries are being performed for users. Optimization needed here maybe?
