Forums - Gaming - Bigger deal: DQIX on DS or FFXIII on 360?

So what do you think?

These are arguably the two largest RPGs right now and will obviously be successful as well as a great asset to whichever console they're on. Since I don't know when DQIX was first announced for the DS, I'm oblivious to the fan reactions, though I can surmise. Were there multiple threads all over gaming forums? Was the Lord's name used in vain millions of times? Was excrement deemed holy? Please someone enlighten me.

Personally, I think DQIX on the DS is a bigger deal. I mean, it's pretty much like putting the next Final Fantasy game on the DS 2 exclusively (DO NOT WANT!). When I first learned about it, I did say "Omg, holy shit" more than a few times and can only imagine what some of the old DQ fans felt when it was announced.

Final Fantasy XIII is still coming out in consoles, which is a relief, but the fact that SquareEnix pretty much stabbed Sony in the eyes, back, and every human orifice...is quite a big-ass deal. I mean, losing exclusivity to one of the biggest games this gen: That's a MEGATON OF MEGA-PROPORTIONS. (This has been discussed to death, so I'll stop here).

So, which one is it?

In Japan, DQ9 being on DS is easily the bigger deal. The 360 is about as popular as a blood clot over there, so FF13 on 360 won't be making any waves to speak of in the land of the rising sun. Outside of Japan, however, FF13 on 360 is easily the more important item on the menu. If only because FF has far more popularity than DQ outside of Japan.

Sky Render - Sanity is for the weak.

Saleswise, I think the FFXIII thing is a bigger deal. DQ9 will probably sell more, but most of the fans of the PS2 games last generation have a DS now, especially in Japan. If they don't, it's relatively cheap and I don't see it becoming a huge deal for most.

Meanwhile, many people have been using FFXIII as justification in spending at least $400 on a PS3. Many of those people (an unknown, but sizable, amount) will realize that they can now get the same game on a different system for $280. Now, many will still prefer it on Playstation, or one disc, the lead platform, yadayadayada, but it will greatly impact sales.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

"Ok, girl's trapped in the elevator, and the power's off.  I swear, if a zombie comes around the next corner..."

Personally DQ9 going to DS was a bigger deal as I have been disappointed by the FF series in the past. On a sales standpoint PS3 and FF was bigger and will have a bigger impact.(In America(s) and Europe anyway.) In the end however.... I think if you are an RPG fan then both were pretty big.

Boycotting the following:

1. Yoshi: He ate my car and spit out a toaster.

2. Igglybuff: Totally false advertisement. You can have as many as you like they don't buff nothing.

3. the Terms Hardcore/Softcore... We're talking Video Games. Not Porn.

4. The term Casual as relates to Gamers: We make them sound like outsider's that happen to play games.  If that were the case they'd own a PS3.

5. Donuts.... Beacause I drink Beer...... and the biggest fan of Donuts hates Beer.

6. Boycotts: Their so lame.

They are both major body blows to the Playstation 3 (DQ9 in Japan and FF13 outside of Japan). I seriously don't know what Sony is thinking and I have to wonder if going Blu-Ray will prove to be the undoing of the Playstation brand (which I do have respect for since the PS1 and PS2 have amazing libraries).

I was thinking of buying a PS3 for MGS4 and FFXIII, but now that the latter is on the 360, I may just buy it instead. It certainly does have a lot of great games. Damn, Sony sure screwed up.

Final Fantasy hands down, Dragon Quest sucks >_>

From 0 to KICKASS in .stupid seconds.

i think DQIX since sony will atleast still have FFXIII but they wont have DQIX

Final Fantasy......PERIOD!!! Biggest announcement at an E3 in years.

DQ9 on DS is more of a blow to the PSP then PS3. Now if it went to Wii that would've hit PS3 hard. FF13 is the harder blow to the PS3 by far. Star Ocean could be considered a blow as well.
