Forums - Microsoft - OK that was just painful....

Well the PS3 is only in third place because of the late start. It consistently outsells the 360 worldwide. The FF13 announcement sets PS3 back in America probably another few years. Sony needs all the games it can get to push it ahead of the 360 in the US. Everywhere else, the PS3 is winning against 360.

Whatever, Microsoft just officially got going.... The Live Update is far from a rip-off, okay, the avatars are similar to Nintendo, only they look three.... no 10 times better, 8 person chat capabilities, watch Netflix movies in Instant Queue with your friends, go in and out of games with a party of up to 8 people. Sony just got done trying to become comparable to XBOX Live and Nintendo has never been close, and now Microsoft just pulled way ahead again. And I didn't even put everything the Live update is going to offer in there, and you can best believe XBOX will announce more new titles throughout E3, they wanted to get the first shots in today and they will probably have more announcements tomorrow during certain other companies press conferences just so people don't stop talking about Microsoft during the entirety of E3. And let's not forget, most of us that post on this site are gamers of the hardcore genre, Microsoft wants to win this generation, and to do that they have to appeal to every genre of the gaming world. So while you or I may not have cared for some of the announcements they made throughout the press conference, I as an XBOX 360 fan was very excited about every announcement they made because it showed they are infiltrating every possible genre with something new. The press conference today simply showed that there is alot of games and content for EVERY gamer in the world no matter what kind of gamer you are. Hardcore or Casual.

I stopped reading here, cause i can count on one hand the 'something new' things your refering to and it didn't take long.

Nintendo = Innovation = Wii

I was not impressed with most of it, most of it just seemed like rip-offs, but the XIII announcement has blown me. I did like the new dashboard, but I don't care much for the community features or a few of those games, but there were several good things. The SE things were by far the best

And the Live Update has to have been in the making for months now, so they didn't steal anything from sony at all.

not an rpg fan, not a console fps fan so... didnt rly interest me

Step 1) Remove Blinders

Step 2) Learn about what Sony and Wii have in development and already done.

The Live Update's new features are all "Sony Home Lite" Sony has been developing these very things on a grander scale for a very long time. MS halfed solution of inviting 7 other people to a "party" in a space with a bleek gray background has nothing on Home's ability to invite many friends into your own designed pad.

The layout is a cross between XMB and Wii Channels, MS isnt even hiding that fact as they are calling them Channels.

The Miis represent almost a decade of development. They are designed to be inviting, easy to make, and very expressive of personality. Nintendo succeeded in doing this. Rare's halfed attempt is both pathetic and full of fail. In fact, click on a Zwinky ad on this site and find an avatar service that is bettre than Rare's. These are nothing more than the result of MS's desire to have a feature/benefit bullet point that says: "avatar."

Primetime game show thingy, already on WiiWare with Mii Integration. The only added feature this one has is the ability to be a spectator in the game, which is lame. I did NOT buy my 360 to watch other people play video games. Also, Kim's comment that "never before has one been able to integrate their avatar into a game" can be negated by virtue of WiiSports.

You're in the movies has been done on PS2 and Gameboy color before that.

There's more. But the point is MS is flailing. They cant compete with Ninty and Sony is really taking them to the mat. They are trying to ignite interest with these halfed ideas and they are also dropping prices, but they have to face it. 360 has reached it's apex and will not achieve growth.

First every game they showed was a sequel, not one unique new title.

Except some games mirrors edge, lips and your in the movies (which is a rip off, of sonys eye toy). and the 2 non sequel SE games, which im sure M$ fans should be happy about. So not really that bad unique titles, but there are clearly about 4-1 sequels to unique titles. the last remnant actually looked really good. Then BAM! FF13, every Sony fan just fainted HAHA!

That said, GOW2 looked amazing (not my kinda game though) and fable 2, is the ONLY reason i will buy a 360, even though its increasing the amount of social deficient humans in this world.

There theme and pitch, was Nintendo's pitch 2 years ago, gaming is for everyone.

They used outdated sales figures (from may) when clearly the Wii has sold more, and then conceded to Wii selling the most this generation (the best thing of the conference)

They expressed how the industry is now the biggest, but spent what seemed like a long time talking about how they are supplying growth in the other industries.

So along with stealing Sonys eye toy, they also managed to steal Nintendos Miis and then have the nerve to say where else can you do this.

They even copied nintendo and generated Miis of the people on stage.

They also stole FF13, which is huge, congrats on that.

So M$ are clearly the Hijackers of the industry, and im sure all the fanboys will lie to themselves, but its the truth. I hope you all enjoyed the most un-original game conference ever.

Now I expect much burn, but i think i've been fair, be nice....

Ooohhhhh Those lemons sure are bitter, and whats that? You're eating sour grapes too?

...I'll just go play my 360.

Sour grapes??

Im not a Sony Fanboy, couldn't care less about a single thing M$ showed in the conference.

Microsoft may of just cemented 2nd place, but they did nothing to challange the Wii, and I only attempted to show this. I even gave them credit so your comment is just void.

Nintendo = Innovation = Wii

I think the FFXIII announcement masked how "bad" a conference it was. It tried to lightly cover all bases, and was the first step in the 'casualisation' of the 360 - Lips, Avatars, The movies, ...

I wanted to see something from hardware (new model, talk about reliability), pricing, a LOT of footage from new games (i.e. more games), more interesting XBLA (etc), controller(?)

This seemed to be a strategic "blocking" conference from MS to attack Sony - rather than to seriously advance the 360 in any meaningful way (or announce anything meaningfully new - apart from the casualisation).

Singstar - check.
Buzz - check.
Miis - check.
Home - check.
Eyetoy - check.
Online movies - check.
Online music - check.
Lots of online revenue - check.

...

FFXIII - check (mate).

(Because of FFXIII it was a megaton conference - but they could have JUST announced that, left the stage - and the impact would be the same. Take out FFXIII announcement, and everyone would be slagging off the conference as "terrible").

I love to see the PS3 fanboy damage control machine start to spin up. Guys, the PS3 will have stuff tomorrow that will probably turn some heads too. Relax. But you have to admit, Sony is going to lose more market share because of some of this stuff.
