I think the FFXIII announcement masked how "bad" a conference it was. It tried to lightly cover all bases, and was the first step in the 'casualisation' of the 360 - Lips, Avatars, The movies, ...

I wanted to see something from hardware (new model, talk about reliability), pricing, a LOT of footage from new games (i.e. more games), more interesting XBLA (etc), controller(?)

This seemed to be a strategic "blocking" conference from MS to attack Sony - rather than to seriously advance the 360 in any meaningful way (or announce anything meaningfully new - apart from the casualisation).

Singstar - check.
Buzz - check.
Miis - check.
Home - check.
Eyetoy - check.
Online movies - check.
Online music - check.
Lots of online revenue - check.

...

FFXIII - check (mate).

(Because of FFXIII it was a megaton conference - but they could have JUST announced that, left the stage - and the impact would be the same. Take out FFXIII announcement, and everyone would be slagging off the conference as "terrible").
