You can buy peripherals for Wii Sports (and maybe Wii Play) but I don't imagine that they're very popular.

My two cents on this MontanaHatchet vs Soriku thing.

I have to agree with MontanaHatchet on the fact that they could faulter. If you look back, both Nintendo and Sony had two successful consoles before another competator beat them. Montana's basis is on past evidence. However, I agree more with Soriku. Arogance can be a factor to faulter but it sure isn't definative. If that were so, the leader would change every 3 years. Also, like Soriku said, there isn't much evidence to say Nintendo will be beat. They have made a mistake before so they may be more cautious now. Heck, if anything, they are less likely. It has been proven that 3rd parties can't pull of extended auidience games, or at least never as good as Nintendo. And it's skeptical if Sony or Microsoft could make a periferal or game as good. Essentually, Nintendo created their own rules. Of course, the latter is probably more a theory then anything.

In conclusion, Nitnendo could make them selves topple, but there isn't much to state that would happen.

I'm talking about backwards compatibility, which in itself shows that, that console will support the games of it's predacessor. The core that were on the Xbox could easily buy an Xbox360 and have their plethora of games still accesible.

Microsoft did two things to shun it's core - Discontinued support of the Xbox and No backwards compatibility. That's turning your back on the core group - the guys who like the values you set.

I'm not making anything new up here by the way, back in 2005 he internet was inflammed with this stuff - "Only Halo 2 has backwards compatibility!?"

Did I miss something Montana? When did Nintendo get arrogant?  The real decision makers (ie Iwata and the Japanese executives) have been humble and have even gone out of their way to explicitly state that they're making an effort not to let the success go to their head and to keep a clear perspective of things. To refresh some memories:

This was all just a test. I was going to talking about how the 360 and maybe ps3 will have its motion controller simalar to the wii. I know nintendo isnt number 1 because all the companies deliver the games I play like mgs4, halo, gears of war, god of war, jak, metriod, mario, sonic, and it goes on. SO in all this was just a test. And boy ya all thought I was serious.

Number one in sales, but one of the lowest quality, most backwards video game consoles in the industry's history. The Wii's near obsession with "fun gameplay" is what's going to keep this industry from becoming a true artistic medium.

^they cant legally copy anything from Nini. Sony has SIXAXIS which is perfect. Leave it as is. M$ might come out with some other type of controller that WONT be universally used.
