I loved GUN on PSP. Patapon is great, in my opinion, but I never cared for LocoRoco.

And why do you keep going on and on about a drought? God of War: Chains of Olympus, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII, Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee 2, Patapon, Secret Agent Clank, Wipeout Pulse, Echocrome, Pursuit Force: Extreme Justice have all been released this year, not to mention many multiplats like MLB 08: The Show and Lego Indiana Jones. You don't own any of those games it appears, so what exactly are you expecting?

I have a problem with those key points: the first is that Shots and Wipeout are basically just the same game though, like a version 1.5 if you will.

And you mention many multiplats... I see nothing but cash-in, and low budget card games :P making it to the psp

I buy the psp handbook every year, but this years' version was just sad. It is basically 3/4 of last years handbook, with the exception that they cluster alot of the features to make it seem bigger than it really is. In their previews for this years upcoming games, I started feeling depressed, because, the biggest 3rd party release (not counting final fantasy) is another star wars game.. the force unleashed which is a scaled-down port.

I don't know, maybe I am just expecting too much of Sony... oh wait, i'm not. I paid 250$ for my handheld and I expect a new IP each year that is  beyond amazing to me. (echocrome is a 10$ downloadable game, and like i said earlier, patapon did not light my world on fire) E3 better be hiding something big.

And that's the only thing I need is *this*. I don't need this or this. Just this PS4... And this gaming PC. - The PS4 and the Gaming PC and that's all I need... And this Xbox 360. - The PS4, the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360, and that's all I need... And these PS3's. - The PS4, and these PS3's, and the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360... Disgaea is a good pickup if you have many hours to burn. Also space invaders extreme is really fun. Any Viruta Tennis game is always fun. MGS Portable Ops is good also and the GTA games for psp are good

My god why do people talk nonsense . Even if you compare hardware or software sales the PSP is in a much better position than now 18 months ago . Arguably the end of 06 beginning of 07 are the worst parts in the history of the PSP ... just look at some old charts and you will see what I mean ;)

I did check. What I noticed: It was selling a bit less worldwide back then - but this would easily be balanced by Japan's new surge. Also, in america it sold around the same it is selling now, but back then it was more then the 360, PS2, PS3 in America, while today it is not. This shows it has not had any real growth outside of Japan while everything around it has.

Upgrade of the same game doesn't matter when you don't own that game to begin with. Doesn't matter if you see multiplats as cash-ins, most are well made games or bad just as the console version is bad. And is it Sony's fault you don't like God of War or Final Fantasy? The games released in just this half of the year could almost compete with all of 2007 - The difference is that the PSP is now recieving much less 3rd party support.

Your joking right . Except 4 weeks or so every week the PSP had sold more in the US than in the previous years . Also just look at last weeks chart and you will see the PSP above PS2/PS3/360 in the US , and this is happening afther the major GTA4 and MGS4 releases . And taking in consideration that the PSP has nothing ... well youl do the math ;)

I did a quick check, never noticed a difference of more than 5k in hardware, and software was virtually the same (despite a years worth more of PSP's sold). PSP is selling more than those right now, but PS3 can easily pass that number, and 360 is in a big slump but will bounce back with a price cut.

ANYWAY, my point: PSP recieved a lot of 3rd party support in the beginning because it was thought to be the next big thing. It has been fairly succesful, but the progress in the past 18 months or so will not have been enough to encourage more 3rd parties to make games on PSP, outside of Japan of course.

It does when you never wanted the first game to begin with/ or were disapointed with the first (I do own wipeout pure, sucka!)

I'm not talking about the good kind of multiplat. I'm talking about the wall-E's,  and the Cars and every other cash-in game right now.

Yes, i think it is their fault, 2 sequels/prequels/ continuations in a series----- isn't going to cut it for the people who happen to not play final fantasy/ gawd of war (quite a few, even though you may not comprehend that)

I thought 2007 was an ok year.. some good games you know? But... this year is X2 worse.

.......... And you defend the PSP's multiplat releases... lol.

http://www.pspfanboy.com/2008/05/09/sonys-david-reeves-admits-to-psp-drought/

even the big wigs admitted it. waaaaaaaaaaay back in may.

The article gives me little hope, even though it ends on an upbeat note.

Your top game wish list for your PSP should be:

Dissidia: Final Fantasy

and definitely get God of War, and Patapon - awesome games.

and maybe Warhammer 40k: Squad Command - It seems to be fairly underrated. I love games like these.

Don't be ashamed to buy DS either.
I think it's worth it - for me anyway.

Well, if you're a Sony fan - then I guess don't.

I believe PSP software will get better as Sony seemed to have started to focus to support its game division a little more now=)

Hi all. Zenfoldor here. I just would like to make a request. I request that this topic stay free from any comparisons, sales or library wise between the PSP and the DS.

The DS, in fact, should no longer be mentioned in this topic, unless absolutely necessary.

I know it is inevitable that some Nintendo or DS fanboy would pop into this topic with a cheapshot at the PSP, or vice-versa and it would start a flame war that neither side can win due to opinion being involved. This topic is completely fine being just a discussion about the PSP, and there is no need to rekindle the flames of hate just because the PSP has a topic about it with a negative connotation asserted in the OP.

To make an on topic post myself:

The PSP seems like a great system with more than just games going for it. The MP3 player ability is also nice, so looking at it as just a gaming system is a bit one dimensional. As portable entertainment it is excellent. Also, it sells very well in Japan. I wish developers had a better future lineup for all systems, not just the PSP.

Zenfoldor out.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

And I not talking about hardware, I'm talking about software...........
WHY DID YOU CHANGE THE SUBJECT?? I've actually always thought the psp has done quite well actually in hardware. I'm concerned with software.. no not sales, but the games themselves.
