also all the third parties games are going ps3 or xbox360. wii--> only nintendo love. thats why its won't reign supreme like the ps2 did. right now the market is split 54% ps3+xbox360 - 46% wii
nintendo have played all its card, wii sales are high due many exclusive made by nintendo throw in the first 2 years of release. wii fit, brawl, galaxy, mario kart, zelda. that sadly won't hold it for more, i expect 2009 to be a year of third party remakes, and brawl 2 kart 2 and zelda tl 2. with minor improvements :( |
At its current sales numbers, Wii will outsell PS2 in a couple of years. About the ''boom'': let's just say the boom was the moment PS2 went selling Wii-like numbers(still not as much though), and Wii has been selling that kind of numbers for its entire lifetime.
TheSource made a nice report about the Wii-sales trajectory a while back, it said the Wii is going to have sold 150-155 million in 5 years. Dig it up if you want to.
About the games: the problem you're mentioning would've been a problem during the first year, but you must realise that third-party support is finally starting to get big, especially Japanese third-party support. That, and Nintendo will have games like Animal Crossing and Wii Music for big first-party sales. Hardcores can wait for Kid Icarus and The Legend of Zelda, but they'll play big ''hardcore'' third-party games as well.
