Go to your local games store (a specialty store like Rhino, or EBGames) and look at the 360 library vs. the PS3 library. Look at the price of (used) multi-platform games, and tell us if you see what the 360 offers.
Go to XBox.com, and see what's available for download (it's an abbreviated list, but even then, you'll see it offers many times what the competition offers).
If you're open minded, grab a Wii. You don't need two HD consoles, but the 360 is definitely a worthy investment.
If you have a number of games from the 360 library that you're itching to play then buy it. Otherwise don't.
Currently playing on PS3: God of War III
Currently playing on Xbox360: Final Fantasy XIII
Currently playing on NDS: Chrono Trigger
XBOX360 is a better deal in my opinion. 2 HD consoles and you will be KING!!!!!
*When i buy my second console this gen, i will grap a PS3 without second thought...*
Good graphics, games, and (imo) by far the best controller this gen... I have used all three, though the PS3 controller I have only played somewhat briefly at a small party.

Except for JRPG's, price point, and preferential treatment with regaurds to release dates....and my favorite, the ability to play while sprawled lazily on a sofa. Did I mention 2 player games that don't require the internet? Also fighting games. ....xbla is also nice. It's also nice to be privy to not have to install games. Or worry about system requirements. The games are really cheap on ebay. ...and they don't have any of that anti-piracy bullcrap to worry about. ...so they're tradable. Plus, games like The Force Unleashed aren't on PC, because of piracy. ...also there's a 3 year warranty for the 360 now, and it's $299.
...but besides those things, you're absolutely right. It takes a fool to buy a 360, when a relative sidegrade only costs you $1700 more, and requires only a couple of vast amounts of knowledge concerning modern computer parts, assembly, and software instillation/upgrades. Plug and play is so n00b casual, it's really disgusting. I, personally, hate it. |
Thats exactly what I think, except I play in a fancy corporate office chair :P
360 offers:
- Largest and most diverse library of good games.
- Best online AND the bigger community which is important if you live outside of USA and the larger european nations
- Best controller this generation and ever in my opinion.
But I would do what montana said and get the wii. You're obviously leaning that way (if you need a forum of people to convince you to buy a 360) and if you haven't bought a 360 already, it's exclusives must not entice you very much and the rest of it's games are available on the PS3 in virtually the same form (speaking about HD multiplatform, because there are some differences in 360/ps3 versions of some games).
At least if you go the Wii you'll always have a game that's not exactly like a PS3 game (even multiplatformers are different mostly).
In short.... the xbox 360 offers what a gaming console should offer. GAMES.

Arguably the best 3rd party support, least emphasis on casual gamers (so far), best traditional controller, more JRPGs, more reliable multiplatform games, achievements on all games, custom soundtracks on all games, bigger choice of XBL games than PSN and better online.
If you want blu-ray or a specific game, get a PS3. It's not really advisable otherwise.

I have all three, I would advice wii since you have a ps3. The console would offer more to you.
